S&W 41 for long range practice, which consists of 100 yard slow fire and 50 yard "timed fire"-speed shooting (in other words, as fast as I can go to get good sight picture and not mash the trigger). 1/3 IPSC is the game.
If I have time, I will also practice seated shooting (love), and maybe some prone (HATE).

Just got back. Built a very lite Ar (5.56) at took her out to she if was going to be a 60 yo house wife or 22yo whore. She came in as a first class whore. Only 300yds with irons but, she did minute of 8" pie plate with 72 yo eyes so I'll keep her. Thinking about co-witnessing a red dot to speed things up a little, but don't know just yet. Need to keep it lite though if I go that route,...
Working today, but shooting tomorrow. 338 Norma @ 1626 yds. Got to bust a beaver dam with the backhoe first, then shoot later.
Waiting for the range to open to sight in my MSR-10 at 200 yards. They have a strict hours of 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM during deer season.
I shoot almost every weekend. I built a range beside the house with berms at 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, and 750. I can angle out and reach 900 flat. I have an assortment of AR500 plates and silhouettes with some being reactive targets. This is all nice to have but it sure costs me plenty because I shoot too often.
Good shooting. Throw an Aimpoint on that thing and practice putting rounds on target as quickly as you can. Groups be damned. Thats how I shoot my carbines. Its not precision that will win the day with that type of gun. Its shear firepower that will.
COLT SOCOM M4 and Glocks (17 and 45) at the gun club. Lots of drills. With cheap smoke and Joe.

I hope to take one shot today, all the way out to about 80y. I’m doing a little deer hunting in central TX.
I don’t mean shooting from the hip.
Learning to shoot fast from unsupported and minimally supported positions is a good skill to learn with a carbine. Hits still count of course. The larger the target the faster you can shoot.
Bagging a carbine up is good for sighting it in. Other than that save the bags for the bolt guns. This is my way of thinking of course. Do what you like.
Zeroing a new 6.5 build and shooting out to 1000.
Opening up a spam can of 1950s 30.06 and stretching the legs of a Springfield 1903 built in 1918 and a WW II Garand. Out to 300 with those.

This link is to a form of shooting we were taught long ago. Still use it for AR's an M14's. It was a course of fire at Benning, an was taugh by some traveling bands as early as 1964-65 that I know of. Most laugh going in but, very quickly understand how valuable it is for 200-250 an in. A 100yds an in became a gim-me for many very quickly,...
Juat a fyi, Holosun makes decent little red dots with the auto on/off feature and inexpensive. I have a couple.
If i take it out of the safe it might get scratched or dirty ????

STILL packing, still gotta move, also still have four damn pins in four L toes and a deep wound in R foot and should be laid up. Actually haven't been able to go shooting for a while, truth be told. Save a little plinking in the yard before the last surgeries. WISHING I was "out there" shooting!
But after I settle and unpack, heal and get the same damn surgery on the OTHER foot and then heal from THAT, I understand my new home is a lot more welcome to firearms owners and supposedly there's a lot of places to shoot, including a club somewhere to at least zero .50 BMG junk (I'm guessing at 1k?) before the everlasting search for that elusive 1 mile+ safe and open range spot on BLM land.
So you guys fire a few for me, huh? If you got one of those SH hoodies or shirts, do it in that please!

Just got done shooting clays. I shot a box and my son shot a flat. That's how it goes now. :-(
Got the two New 6.5 Grendels (AR Stoner based) out yesterday for my debut after 10 months housebound. Still putting rounds through to get the 100rd per rifle counts done before doing load development, but got a (freak?) sub MOA 5rd with a 95gr VMax 'ballparked" handload (30.0gr W748) out of the 24" home build. Things could be looking up.
Gorgeous 70-75 degree, under 5mph day.
Still need to do a few upgrades (two stage triggers especially).

Nancy Pelosi stated gun control was for our children , I guess because they can only carry two Assault Rifles at a time safely three would make them trip ?
Shoot tomorrow, hunting today. Friend took possession of a new AW cut Impact, Bart barrel chambered in 6x47 in a Meadowlands ALtus Manners PRS 1, rare I envy others stuff, but this rifle is going to be sweet, do some testing with it.
Not today but went in the 13 degree weather yesterday morning to work on loads for my brand new .223 bolt gun at 100 yards.

Got there and the damn wind was swirling. No good for load development. Wasted 5 minutes driving all the way out there.
Oh well, everything is loaded for the morning if the wind cooperates.

Finished putting all the gear away today, then went over to the target frame and measured that freak group. Five round group, one called flyer, the other four measured 0.645".
Doesn't count, but Dayum! Fun anyway.

Good day on the range! Found a range run by a good Christian veteran and his wife that is way off the radar! He charges a whopping $40.00/year and has covered benches and 200 yards. Pound to be a member! Even managed a .803 MOA group! Just a great day!
