Rarely snowed in SC so we used an old car hood on dirt roads.
It snowed a lot in Montana and we used a 56 Chevy pickup hood. We would pile all of our friends on it and ride down hill sides. I don't know how we never got seriously hurt or killed.
In high school my buddies and I took a 70’s Ford Bronco hood (had a nice slope on the front end to shed snow) and welded/bolted an old junkyard benchseat to it. Took turns pulling it with our pickups through bean fields anytime we got more than a few inches of snow with anywhere between 3-10 guys crammed onto that hood. Usually had the girls as spectators in the bed of the truck to show off for, which didn’t help the stupidity level. It would eventually dissolve into a game of king of the hill. It’s a good thing we were at least smart enough to wear our snowmobile/MX/ATV helmets. The only injury I remember was one guy caught a pretty good concussion while riding in the bed of the pickup. Driver went through a drainage ditch at pretty high speed and he bounced his head off the bedrail. ?

Memories. Dad used a Shetland pony instead of the Ford, that was to slow.

The well froze up.
Dad had to haul water from town (two miles) with the tractor.
Brother and I thought it would be a good idea to ask Dad to pull us into town behind the tractor.
Dad just smiled.

That should have been a hint.

Of course, he pulled us back from town too.

Did the same in a cattle field back in the day. Not a drainage ditch but the 4x4 straddled that stump and the hood didn't. I can confidently say 1) I know what a bowling pin feels like and 2) Why am I not dead?!?
