I think one way might be to say it is an appeal to authority, which is one of the standard logical fallacies. What do you think?

We know they don't care about corporate malfeasance as long as it benefits the "party".

And to add, we know they will try to shut you down if you're not towing the party line.

In classic definition the above is completely correct. The current candidates may have ideas that expand on social aspects and move US Left but none of them are classic "Socialists".

Has Paul Krugman ever been right about anything? This is the man who said the internet would have no more economic effect than the fax machine and Trump's election would cause a worldwide recession that would never end. Man's a idiot.

All a Social Democrat is, is a socialist operating in an actual democracy. Which is fine if your nation operates as a democracy. Ours doesn't. It has democratic aspects but it's a republic. If/when we actually become a communist operating nation then those same social democrats will just be socialists. It's not complicated no matter how they try to muddy the waters.

It's simple- we manipulate names and terms.... democrats now think they have to be progressive... everyone is progressive...

If you call Bernie - socialist - AKA Russia/ Venezuela or Swedish Model- Bernie's plan will bankrupt America and destroy businesses... It gives everything away- and destroys the private companies who employ people.....

Paul Krugman is not now nor has he ever been paid to be correct about anything. The expectation is that his persona compliments the decor of a communist echo chamber.

Krugman has said lots of things that are best characterized as just plain dumb. He does so regularly in the NYT. Googling him turns up innumerable phrases, speeches, and even entire books that are mind-numbingly shitheaded. His internet comment, his wishing for an alien space invasion to bolster the economy, blah, blah, blah are just the ramblings of a serious looking retard who seems to have taken a fashion cue from Saturday Night Live's Sprockets.

He does not appear quite as thick-headed, dogmatic, and ignorant as some of his colleagues (Charles Blow comes to mind) because he has spent his entire life crafting an organism that has taken the form of something that communists think an intellectual should look like, smell like, sound like, and probably even taste like.

The best rebuttal for Paul Krugman is Paul Krugman. Not his constant gaffes, but the sheer misery that he has spent his life spreading. He is a globalist and has been granted riches and fame for attacking anyone who dared challenge his idea of free markets. His primary counter to anyone who disagreed with globalism has always been simple minded ad-hominem attacks.

Please define globalism in the ugliest possible way you can. You will fall short of how ugly its effects have been on "fly-over country" and to the "deplorables".

What has happened to the Rust Belt? The NYT cannot stop running stories on the opioid epidemic in places like Ohio. The NYT editorial board enjoys an emotional bath in the blood of countless suicides occurring right now in towns that once represented America's industrial bases. What has happened to America's blue collar base? WaPo loves to comment on Michigan's sagging industry because they love a miserable story. And it is in fact a wretched misery.

But I have noticed something curious around the edges of the communist parlor room where they sip fine whiskeys and point their jeweled and crooked fingers at the latest headlines about America's hinterland... whispers that something may be amiss. Even the farthest left corners of academia have started to wonder where it all went wrong... did globalism go too far? I do not mistake this for self-doubt. It is a response to the warm welcome that Trump has received for his "protectionism".

Who has benefited from this brand of free market? How fucking ironic is it that the world's largest communist regime did so. Fucking China.

So what does Paul Krugman have to say about this now? Just reword things. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we didn't do globalization right, what we did was "hyper-globalization".

Does this sound familiar to anyone? If not, you probably bought into the meme above, and you should probably not go on living for one more moment.

Doubt if can say it better than @MosesTheTank but my take is fairly simple.
The statement “social democrat” pretty much encompasses the bullshit.
The following statements, imo, directly contradict each other.
I know of zero thriving private sector driven economies with large “social safety nets” (read enormous regulation and therefore tax burden which in itself actively kills private sector economies)
Enhanced bargaining power for workers. Hmmm. How has that actually worked in recent times and economic circumstances? Let’s see how the big players in that sector have fared. GM and Chrysler in 08. Bethlehem and Armco Steel in the years before that. The other mills at or before that time also. Textile mills in the south. The larger furniture companies in the south. Enough on that, the facts speak pretty loudly.
Corporate malfeasance. Thought the Messiah in 08 and his transparent administration fixed all that? Wasn’t that and isn’t this the same philosophy that told us our good days were done and that 3% gdp was improbable and 1-2% was more realistic.
The last thing we need is anything this non-working prick espouses.
Know the only two jobs in the world you can be consistently wrong and keep? An economist and a weatherman.

No doubt but I thought we were talking about Socialism and which of the current Democratic Candidates were "Socialists". They are all cunts, jackasses, cheaters and liars. They're politicians.

Tons of shit to read about Socialism, Communism, Capitalism, Social Capitalism, etc all of the 'Net or at yer local library..I'm no expert but have studied Marx and the other founders of Socialism.


I haven't seen any of the current Democrats go total/classic Socialist but rather seek to incorporate Democratic Social Concepts.

You can get caught up in semantics or you can ask how the rights of the individual compare to the rights of the collective in a given or proposed system.

Is the system supposed to serve the people or are the people servants of the system?

Liberty is the central theme on US coins. E pluribus unum means to create unity from individuals. These individuals are "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Einigkeit, Recht, Freiheit = Unity, Justice, Liberty is printed on German money.

Do you see the subtle but crucial difference in the order of priorities?

The USA is the only country on this planet where the liberty of the individual is expected to stand above every collective goal.

This is not surprising knowing under which circumstances this country was founded. It should also not be surprising why this unique civil experiment was so tremendously successful thus far.

In the end, nobody likes to be dicked around. The founders decided to explicitly protect the individual from being dicked around by the mob and the government.

You like more fairness, helping others? Go ahead, help others, donate your money, nobody is stopping you. No need to turn the whole value system upside down.

As 'selfish' the USA seems on paper, we still provide more foreign aid than anyone else. We also lead the pack with domestic charity - by far.
