Which of these heads is better for target shooting and hunting? Like hog / predator hunting where there will be multiple targets and movers. Thanks.

Also is the TVC33 a good choice. Thanks.

Hands down the Anvil-30. It seems to provide the stability of a leveling base without the loss of maneuverability. The Anvil-30 was purpose built for rifle usage.

After trying both the BH-55 and TA-3, I ran with the TA-3. There was a definite difference in stability between the BH-55 and TA-3 leveling base. Also did not favor the turn knob tensioner on BH-55. Running the TA-3, I lived with the loss in maneuverability and degrees of movement. Then, along came the Anvil-30, and now have maneuverability back. It also seems to be on par with stability, comparable to that of the leveling base. I really like the clamping tensioner of Anvil-30 (vs a turn knob). Able to dually manipulate tensioner while controlling forend of rifle. This is because your hand is on the part that moves. Whereas on the BH-55, I found my hand jumping to finesse turn dial. Then back to the movable ballhead/forend. When back to turn dial, sometimes I'd have to counter rifle movement with just the trigger arm. Until I got tensioner set right then back to two arm. On the Anvil-30 this all happens simultaneously--set tensioner while still maintaining control of rifle with two arms.

If you decide on Anvil-30 you'll be needing the fixed apex vs the versa apex (TFCT vs TVC). Which is good because this packs up narrower. You might want to check out the 2 series vs the 3 series. This seems to provide all the stability needed along with the necessary load capacity requirements. Also the 4 leg section vs the 3, this will pack up shorter, if needed. If I had to make a specific model recommendation for your criteria, take a good look at TFCT-24L with Anvil-30. Otherwise if you want to stick with bigger and beefier legs, run with the 33's. Hope this helps.

I second the Anvil-30. The tensioning lever allows rapid adjustment while keeping your hand near the forearm. I also feel the Anvil give you better control while moving the rifle as the clamp sits almost directly on the ball vs the clamp sitting 5” above the ball.

One caution I will give would be invest in RRS spec rails as the QD lever won’t clip on most cheap amazon ARCA rails. I haven’t see any issues with the name brand firearm accessory and chassis companies.

Own both. The Anvil is better for shooting simply because when used with the Anvil apex it’s the smallest and lightest option available as a solid shooting platform. The BH55 is smoother but when used with the leverage of a rifle it’s a non issue.
