Looking to buy a Surgeon 1086 action with a magnum bolt face.....they are very scarce these days!!

What is going on with Surgeon?? Is the quality these days the same as when the boys in Oklahoma built them??

I have built several rifles with Surgeon actions...I love them...they are built like a tank and just work in mud, snow, and dust.

Any insight or info will be greatly appreciated!!

The fact that you even have to ask this question should be all you need to move on. Tons of great actions out there these days. Absolutely nothing special about the Surgeon.

As I said…..Surgeon actions have worked well for me in the past...never had an issue. I have a brand new McMillan inletted for the 1086, that's why I would like to use one again.

Any straight handled rem footprint action will drop right in to that stock.

Surgeon has been sputtering along for years with people asking the same questions as you. My advice is to branch out and see what’s available. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Isn't the Impact 737R a "new and improved" Surgeon? If I had my mind set on a Surgeon, and the previous sentence is correct, I would look into the Impact action.

Did you guys actually make these posts today? I could have sworn I read this exact same thread with looking for the 1086 and exact same responses 6 months ago. I thought someone made a post in a necro thread until I saw the post dates.

I have two Surgeon actions and love them! However, Surgeon and me are done. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced in life...not just in shooting sport!. If you have a complaint, they will never respond or acknowledge it. The "customer is always wrong" is their position. You can't run a business like that and succeed.

Fortunately, I discovered the Impact Precision 737 and love it. It's awesome and an incremental improvement over the 591.

I guess excuse THE FUCK out of me for asking about this......GEEZUS!!

I tried looking back through these forums & just found same shit posted here!! 6 months is a long time for things to change (better or worse) for a company that was very popular not long ago.

This is a forum....I guess I just ask questions that are TACTICAL AS FUCK from now on....

They are owned by a conglomerate, they don't care about you and aren't interested in selling you an Action

I am sure you can buy a rifle from them, but actions, not so much.

Everything changed, which is why there is an Impact Action, It's what happened to Surgeon after they were bought and tried to move. The people who used to work there, did it themselves.

Move along Sally nothing to see here

Lol I’ve never had a problem getting what I need from them been running the two 591’s and the first one I’ve had for 10 years. Yeah this exact thread gets started every 6 months though it’s funny. If I wouldn’t lose my ass on selling them I would go to the impact it’s basically it an incrementally improved surgeon with better bolt lift and easier barrel swaps....

Funny you mention that. SAC does all my builds and i spoke w Sara to tell her about my endless calls w no call backs. Her experience is the same! Looking like Surgeon only wants to build Scapels and not sell actions etc.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about Strategic Armory Corp (who owns Surgeon) and not Short Action Customs.

My TACTICAL AS FUCK question......the Lone Peak Fuzion TI or the new Impact long action should fit the into the 1086 inletting pretty well, correct??

The Impact will fit into your 1086 inlet with just 2 small additional cuts to allow the trigger hangar (Impact has one but the Surgeons are direct pin) to clear.

I had the opposite experience, called them, waited about a minute to be transferred, ordered my action, about 9 months later it showed up , had an extractor issue , called them waited about 4 minutes on hold, told them my extractor wasnt right, had to be modified and they immediately shipped me a new one on thier dime . Not sure what happens if you email them but I had no issues calling them, maybe I just got lucky?
