There was a Grant version as well! Later became the Sherman.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought the Lee version was our export model the British used and the Grant model was the version we used. Same Tank different names.
Yes and no. Yes, Our export version. But USA used both. And there were significant differences in commanders cupola/turret.

First week of retired life. Yes a little bored. Weighing my options for the day. But one thing is for sure. I’m not going to the ball bearing factory today!
I always wanted to tour a ball bearing factory... how they make perfect hard spheres amazes me. Ball bearings enabled everything... starting with the safety bicycle... everything depends On them!

Congrats on retirement!

With the recent developments that we have seen in remote systems operation, drones, etc., small tanks such as the pre-WWII tankettes used by almost everybody across the world can make a roaring comeback onto the modern battlefield. A modern version of the Lee, equipped with state of the art cameras, instruments, weapons, and engine, would be quite an asset to the modern warfighter. Imagine an expeditionary unit about to enter a known hot zone. Instead of going right in and eating up MG and rifle fire all the way to the objective, send a pack of light drone tanks in to assess the situation and fuck shit up if need be before actual human lives go in...

^^^ what's old is new again?

Remote control Renault FT's for the win! ?

Fix 'em up with a new engine capable of good road and terrain performance and you basically got a mecha attack hound in addition to your other weapons. I can very well see the tank men of the future doing their fighting from comfortable, climate controlled command modules located outside the battlefield, with surround LED screens and holographics at their disposal, instead of cramped metal hulls that are vulnerable to missiles and EFP attacks, both which instantly renders the whole system a shattered and decapitated wreckage. After the tankers are done, infantry goes in to mop up and secure the area...

The armchair Army? Fits well with the Chair Force, don't you think??
