GAP Production Rifle

Nice little package.

Short ordering window with even shorter delivery window is an interesting concept. Got to assume there will only be a set # available with that short delivery window.

And they're using the stock I wish they had modelled the TCS after... Wide forearm and gradual butt angle are nice. I don't need another gun but I want one lol

If it were built on a Tempest I would hit that ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't one assemble an essentially identical rifle for a few hundred less?

Action: $895
Barrel + chamber: $700
Stock $800
Trigger: $150

$2545 total.

So, even if you got really good deals on it all, you likely won’t be much cheaper than $2300
Right, thats what I was asking - if youre not a production shooter (how many are there now?), then a couple hundred could be significant to you (it is for me at least).

FWIW, I thought I saw Defiance can now take prefits, so that barrel cost could be closer to $500 now.

Some people don't trust prefits. I trust my gunsmith to do the job better, which is why I pay $800 for a barrel job.

First off, $500 Bartlein pre-fits... Where are you finding them for $500? I want in!!!

Break down with prices I found today (rounded to nearest $10 for easy math, yeah I'm lazy):
$900 - action
$710 - Manners T2A stock
$390 - Barricade mini chassis option
$150 - TT trigger
$350 - Bartlein barrel blank
$2500

So the way I see it, you're paying for the parts and getting labor free.

Nice looking rifle George! Glad to see a picture/video of it!

Prefits.....I still cringe on prefits and I’m not saying this so a gunsmith or a barrel maker can make extra money per say.

I’ve seen plenty of actions/rifles that are suppose to be custom etc....You still end up stacking tolerances and can run into issues. Bolts hitting barrels, barrels that don’t thread on actions and the barrels threads are in spec and it was the action or even the other way where the barrel fit was loose on the action and the customer wants a different barrel but again the barrel is in spec., headspace off either way as well.

I still say your best fit is by a gunsmith.

With all that being said....I haven’t seen the new Defiance action (I‘ll check it out at Shot Show next week). Also I haven’t heard any grumblings or issues with the Impact actions. We just did a barrel to the print for a local customer and it worked like a million bucks.

Later, Frank
Bartlein Barrels

Dang I was hoping this would not go up lol...trying to get one before they are all spoken for!

yeah cause that's worked well in the past few years of SHOT rifles/actions

I'd imagine GAP already has all of the parts to build what ever estimated quantity they're planning to sell and ordering will be shut off once that number is reached.

Especially if you're like me and never really got bit by the 6mm bug. I like my 7mm guns.

They are selling them at such a thin margin, the real money is likely in rebarrels and such. 6mm is what most shoot and will also burn out faster.

I’m really thinking that I need the 6GT and I hope more people buy the 6 creed, so I have a chance.

Not trying to stray too far from the main topic, but while the breakdown on pricing is being discussed, can you get 30moa rails for something like the Tenacity? Looking at just the web pages, the <$1000 actions seem limited to 20moa rails, and going beyond 1000 yards with 6.5cm, I'd like to have 30... I'm in the market for something at this budget, looking at building from parts or the production class rifle would be ideal...

yea next years going to be fun . more stuff to save up for .

Unless you're using a trash scope, 20 MOA is plenty.

Sweet rifle! I will say that the point of production class was supposed to be an attempt to keep costs down. Now them fools have raised the cost for the average shooter lmfao.

Good point, thanks!

Not a premium scope, but not junk. Gen 1 Vortex Viper PST 6-24. 30mm tube. With a 20 moa rail and the 2657 fps velocity, I'd have to hold over at or just beyond 1000 yards. I enjoy shooting beyond that, so the 30 moa rail accommodated that.

I was thinking about buying a GAP rifle this year so this is good timing...but where does the extra $2k come into play in their other rifles?

Options and such.

You zero options except for 6cm or 6gt.

Functionally, it’s going to perform like any gap I’m sure.

Anyone have the inside info on when they go on sale? After shot show? Tomorrow? Monday?
