    The world is Efffed....

    1. A proposal to increase teacher diversity is being considered.........letting people that can not pass the accreditation test be teachers. Guess what, I know how to do increase doctor diversity now.

    2. Donald Trump is FINALLY releasing his Mid East peace proposal. Where is every previous Presidents proposal? Is Obama FINALLY going to release his? And despite not knowing what's in it the proposal is heavily weighted in favor of the Israel according to the dip shit reading the propaganda. I thought Trump was an anti-Semite Nazi?

Edit - Whenever I read shit I put on the internet using an Ipad it is inevitably a misspelled, auto word inserted, non sensical mess.

How about letting people that can pass the test, but don't have a masters be teachers? We let them keep putting more educational requirements on these jobs, and all its done is force people to go to college longer, and spend more money there.

How about we let our aging population become teachers, you know, like it originally was, tracing back to Grecian times? Someone with some world experience (and survived) and not someone who has spent their entire life in academia....

We might not agree on the homeless thing, but I agree 100% with you here.

    My niece is a teacher.
Finished high school with a 6.2 GPA.
Did her time at UCF, got hired on as an on-line teacher before graduation.
    Finished her master's before 25.

Never had an actual job, nor does she have any life experience other than school/college.

    Scary.

I need to be a surgeon! I could cut with the best of em!

Are you kidding. This has been suggested to me as an option after I retire. I have actually taught at a local community college, in my trade.

My first class was panned by a self righteous little cunt, who didn't think we covered the material well enough for "everyone" to pass the test. She listed all the degrees and certifications she had, she wanted a wastewater license as well. She wasn't going to actually get a fucking job, she just wanted the paper.

When I got my grade IV license, the pass rate at that time was ~20% average from year to year.
The commission has fiddled with the tests, and now have the pass dates at "more acceptable levels".

They ain't ever gon let folks like me teach their kids. The fact is our education system is fucked, and very few kids today want to be anything except rock stars. Lemme clarify that previous statement.
My daughter wanted a chemistry degree, she had to have a master's chemistry degree, because she was going to become a research chemist, and cure terrible diseases. That's great, but only a very tiny percentage become "chemist rock stars". Most chemists end up working in boring labs, testing water and shit samples.
    "You are killing my dreams!"

Fuck me, these fucking kids are products of criminal level coddling.

What special interest group not represented in the current doctor community are you representative of?

If your answer is "none" than you will actually have to have the education and skills to be a doctor.
A transgender specialist! I remove unwanted parts!

You guys suffer from inhaling burnt gunpowder if your just seeing this now, this Nation has been in a downward spiral for decades , look at the democratic candidates running for office. We need mandatory Military Service after High School to unfuck the heads of these children who were brainwashed all their lives by our liberal education system.

My daughter, a well educated elementary school teacher, in a private Christian school, had to go back to College and get her Master's Degree in order to pull a kid out of a 3 rd grade class and tutor them on how to read.....

And America was built by people who were educated in a one room school house and educated by a non-degreed teacher.

    The decline continues.

Not so sure about military service, but completely agree on some type of national service. We got lots of roads and bridges that need to be repaired; might as well put folks to work, while teaching them something of "we" rather than "me", in the process. Call it "multi-cultural national service" and put them in a scrum of people they would otherwise never meet, and have to work with. That, is the beauty of the military; there, you're all equally worthless until you prove otherwise.

The issue with teachers/education system (IMHO) is two fold. One: Government control of the curriculum/system. The government never excels are managing things. Why we expect good things from an education system that is managed by big government (and has no competition) is beyond me. Two: The teacher's union. In the state of California it is the number one, most powerful union in the state (followed by the Firefighter's union). I think we all understand how unions have had their day, and how they now gum up the works, rather than serve as the coffer dam of wealth that ensures a healthy middle class...

You mean now I can get paid for being worthless old prick? ?

And I was beginning to think old age boiled down to waiting for the ibuprofen to kick in.

Being old proves as much about ones ability to teach as being in college for half a decade or longer.

Most of teachers I hear complain about wages, complain that other professions that require the same amount of education, pay more. At that we are just talking about get in the door credentials, not even tapping into the requirements for maintaining your teaching license.

I wonder how much it would cost to force every high school student into military service after they graduate.....Seems like a reasonable idea in a free nation.

So, what makes you think she would be a bad teacher then?

Never said or implied that she would be a bad teacher.
In fact, my belief is that she is damn good at it, but constrained by the friggin mandatory curriculum.
The scary part (my wording and slightly tongue in cheek) is that someone in my family is teaching kids.
Her lack of life skills has never held her back or caused her concern. She thinks a situation through end moves forward.

A young person who thinks things through to the end is rare, IMO it helps them gain the wisdom to apply their knowledge properly. We really need to go back a few decades in the ways our schools are operated. I hope the enjoys teaching. I hope she goes beyond that to help us change the education system for the better.

True, but my point was that age (experience) is of value, and held by the older of any society (who typically have time on their hands, and don't demand a high salary). And yet, our current society seems to put more value in "education" (degrees) than "wisdom" (that comes from life experience). An often common and poor understanding of the difference is part of the problem with our educational system. That being said, it is hardly the only problem, nor is age a guarantor of wisdom. I know a lot of older people that are just as retarded as the typical twenty something SJW., and about as intelligent as a wet paper sack, or as bright as an 15 watt light bulb.

The truly successful (teacher and otherwise) are generally the ones with intelligence and education in healthy doses.

She has very lofty goals when it comes to education and the system that runs it.
    Time will tell.

Exactly in line with something that got me some dirty looks at UVA, Mr. Jefferson's University. One of Jeff's famous quotes is:

    "Knowledge is Power."

I came back at them with:

"Knowledge may be power but power without wisdom is folly."

    Use 'Maggot' for footnoting quotes.

I agree that if we are to have a military there should be universal conscription...or youre free to move to another country. With all respect to our military, as I see it only gives you one type of 'life experience'...at least for the first couple years ie: learning how to budget and do things for your self. Most all the necessities are covered for you. There is something to be said for facing the stark reality that if I don get my ass up and go to work I will end up in the street...though in the military I reckon you end up in the brig. LOL

Edited to add that there certainly is a harsh reality to combat and a firefight, just a different skill set than in the civilian world.

Who in their right mind would want to teach kids today?

I can't speak to the first part, but I sure enjoy teaching kids. I enjoyed two weeks from christmas, and will really enjoy my first summer break in about 2 decades. ? Oh yea and 4 day work weeks. Makes me feel like a chump for working 6 days a week as a mechanic for all those years.

I've always said that teachers have all the holidays if not most of them off and have the most vacation. I'm sure at least that's nice...

They work for 9 months and then cry when we compare their salary to someone who works another 12 weeks than they do per year. Their salaries should be multiplied by 1.25 to accurately reflect what they’re paid.

So while it looks like $55k is the average pay it’s really more like $70k, and with all the be of it’s it’s more like $90k.

Nobody wants to hear that though.

Compare those salaries to what we pay athletes, entertainers, etc.

IMHO (In Maggot's Humble Opinion) the highest paid should be our teaches, military, cops, firefighters and emergency personal. Start with teachers because if we got the best and brightest instead of the 'also ran', then we, hopefully, should have less need for the rest.

My point in this post was not specifically teachers but just how stupid the news is.

Yes we have all seen it and understand it but they are becoming more Baghdad Bob by the day.

My wife is a physician and subscribes to an American Medical Association journal for continuing education credits. Over the past decade, it has transitioned from a medial journal into 1/3 science, 1/3 pharma adds, and 1/3 PC lecturing. Their latest advertising campaign is something along the lines of "hoorah we are getting rid of all of the old white dudes."

How my grandfather got a job with Goodyear his division was later called Goodyear Aerospace, armed with a 8th grade education blows my mind.
He also had a couple patents that Goodyear took credit for.
Doubt we will ever see that happen again.
As a side line he did mechanical work at home, one of the Chevrolet dealers would drop off cars they couldn't figure out.
If you seen his tools, almost no new stuff, all scavenged and repaired but
    He made it work.
He was taken advantage of by family and friends, did a lot of work gratis and paid for the parts.
    Good man.

Pays got nothing to do with it.

Private schools do much better with less $$$
Voucher programs always end with better results. That’s why unions hate them.

Public schools should be abolished and replaced with voucher programs for private schools

    Lol! I can relate.

I was briefing someone in Washington DC; a fairly high level person in the government. I was discussing a new capability, how it worked and the implications for current day missions. Afterwards we were chatting and he asked where I got my college degree and in what discipline. When I responded that I had never attended school beyond grade 12, he about fell out of his chair. I just commented my usual saying, "intelligence isn't necessarily correlated with education, though society would like us to think so" and smiled and moved on to another (and more interesting) topic.

Honestly, I get a lot of fun out of doing that (it happens a lot). Lol.

Different times, my grandfather was the director of transportation at a school district in Denver. He then went on to be the superintendent of that district, and hold other positions that required high level degrees. Everyone just assumed he had the education, but he was a high school drop out.[/QUOTE]
