I have bought Hornady 6.5 147 gr bullets in both 100 round boxes and 2000 round cases. The bullets from the bulk cases were never as shiny and I find a few marred ones. The 100 round boxes LOOK in better shape and I swear they shoot tighter. Anyone else have this experience?

I've purchased 4 2,000 piece cases of Hornady 140gr ELD's. Some cases have been nice and shiny and some have looked like shit. Actually seemed like the dull looking ones shot better. I think its a lot to lot thing and not so much how tumbled/clean they are. I haven't purchased 140's in 100 round packs for a long time so I can't say that they shoot better. I do know that when they first switched to the ELD-M tips form the AMAX the see through red tipped bullets shot better in general. I think they've probably let some things go in order to reduce cost and speed up production. They still shot good enough for me. I did pretty well with them last year.

I've had this happen with 75gr .223 eld. Bought 2 100 packs to shoot a match after my 75 amax finally ran out. They shot really good.

After the match I ordered 2000 from mid south shooters in bulk. Long story short after a new barrel(thought that was problem) finally figured out that the bullets were junk. Had .035" difference in bto measurements on about 20 I pulled from box.

Switched to 85.5 bergers and the gun went back to bugholes

I bought a box of 2000 ELDMs from someone (Midsouth, maybe?) and what showed up was just a box full of bullets. I found the same issues as 702 did. Boattail lengths, base to ogive, bearing surface length, etc., were all over the place. It was like someone grabbed twenty random boxes of 100 and just dumped them all into the box. I imagine I probably had bullets from twenty different lots in that box. The money I saved buying in bulk wasn't worth the headache at the reloading bench. Fortunately, they shot fine for me, but I don't know that I'll buy another bulk box.

brass o will shine them up all pretty like I am pretty much still lovin on there 140 gr american gunner for a factory round they shoot nice so far for me and the cost is pretty sweet 138 for 200 , but so did the burger bullets 140gr and the 142's smk but I had someone else loaded them but they were fun shooting .
