So I have ordered a GAP PPR in 6 creed. I’m torn between buying a box of factory ammo to get it on paper and get the feel or rolling up a middle of the road load. I’ve never started reloading for a brand new rifle before. I plan on shooting Burger hybrids on top of h4350, when I find some. Any advice on a basic load to dirty up the new barrel? I don’t want to say break in, because that will start a whole other conversation. I do like to have a few rounds down the barrel before I start working up a load.

Wouldn't it be better to burn through may be 160 rounds? This way you don't risk the barrel speeding up and taking you out of a node you've custom loaded for it?

If so, why not give factory ELDM a try, should be good.

I’d avoid shooting factory just because I don’t want to use Hornady brass on subsequent loadings. You can still learn what the barrel like with regard to bullet and powder.

Certainly you can load up something safe and go shooting.

Buy 200 rounds of Prime loaded ammo and after you've shot it all hand load the Peterson brass.

My load in my 6 CM was 42.0 gr of H4350 with Berger 105 VLDs, but it was close to the top. I'd go with something in the 40 range if you just want to plink and produce some once-fired brass.

I would love to buy some prime ammo, but I live in the people’s republic of California, so that is a no go. At least until the federal court declares it unconstitutional.
