Pro: You won't have to modify anything much beyond taping the receiver for 8x40, not a bad idea though.
Con: You'll need a much higher height of comb, so you'll need a stock that has that adjustment. Additionally the weight of the day optic and UNS when mounted on heavy recoiling rifles (like .300wm) can cause rails to work lose.
Honestly unless you're trying to clone something I wouldn't bother with it, a modern chassis has so many more advantages. If you're stuck on a traditional stock, then the EFR is probably the way to go.
