I'll be in florida for a couple of months.....wife wants to get out of the cold weather..... I'd like to find a quality place to shoot my rifles on steel, but paper is ok. Joining a club is fine, just looking for a quality range that extends out to 600-1000yd in central Florida. Plans are to find an RV park within decent driving distance. The only range I have used prior to this trip is the one North of Panama City Beach a few miles, but that one only went to 300yd. I'd like to find something between Orlando and Ft Meyers.

thank you

not helping you, but color me f-n jealous! begging my wife to go to fla for a few months so i can golf and do shooting matches in the relative warmth but she loves the NE cold...

Can't help either, but subbing as the wife and I are probably going to be moving down to Sarasota/Bradenton sometime soon (1-2 years). Interested to hear what others who are residents there suggest.

a couple of florida matches showing here, see which clubs they are

There is bradford sportsman farm in north florida. Not alot around there but only about 30mins or so from gainesville. An hour or so from jax. Goes out to 850 yds. Range is open wed,fri-sunday but you have to qualify on the 850 to shoot in it but it aint that hard. Bad thing is that sometimes the whole range is closed for national sporting clay matches.
good thing is normally only shooters are on the long range not the general yAhoos at a public range. Went last week on a wed and had the whole range to myself.

We are fortunate to be able to do some traveling. I have had memberships at Cody and Sheridan Wy. I have shot at the Whittington Center in Raton NM, and a few times at the Hornady range in Grand Island, Nebraska. In Florida at the range North of Panama City Beach... but it is only a 300yd range. I have shot at the Ben Avery range in Phoenix. My wife is pretty understanding, but she is determined to go to Florida to get away from the Iowa weather.....I agreed to pull the 5th wheel down there for some steady range time. I figured someone on SH would know of a long range club or a range that would have some distance. Public ranges generally do not have the distance, but private ranges or clubs do.......

thank you all for commenting....and the search continues

@raven88, I shoot with a long range club loosely affiliated with VCGHC in Volusia county just south of Daytona Beach. The only issue is the inconsistency of when we shoot, as there is usually only one or two weekend days open per month. What months are you planning on being around?

If your dates are good and you want to come shoot, it’s usually $40 for 10:00a-2:00p. We have various distances up to 1000 to shoot. Nothing fancy, but our squirrely winds offer a good challenge at the longer distances.

thanks... I will look at this....I've been in the gainesville area several times, but it was for the ASA archery shoots.... and to Orlando for the ESPN Great Outdoor Games.....I was one of the photographers for those events.
