Very Sad

Unplanned parachute departure. Saw this with a jumpmaster from my platoon once, landed in the parking lot of Fayettville mall. Not the tragic outcome of post tho......

Reactions: Foul Mike
There has been more than once assholes dicking around have pulled an others chute. Needless to say they get the full treatment from everyone, from that point on. Kid shit is out the window once you step onto the bird. However many a chute has accidentally opened inside before, the issue I have is why was the grid not quickly marked?

Did he get his reserve deployed in the plane. An unplanned jump is right up there with a negligent discharge. And they still have doors.

I was air force and had the bright idea that if I got through jump school I would be stuck with the 82ND and avoid S Korea. It worked!!! I was never more afraid for my life than with the AA Div protecting the Carolinas from communism during the cold war. it was a dangerous fucking machine full of many young men that were dumb as a bag of hammers. I mean, even to be a super lifer was considered a stupid life choice, lol.
And I had no room to talk as well.

Bag of hammers? C'mon dude give us more credit than that. ? remember the flaming mug or Rick's Lounge? Lol

Got ya! You know I'm exaggerating a little, lol. I remember a topless club for NCOs right on Fayattenam. :) I was on the JV team located at Shaw AFB. The Varsity FAC was on Pope. Going on to Bragg itself was always an adventure and going into town was like what the fuck is going to happen now, lol. It wasn't just airborne stuff that would get you fucked up. I eventually requested and was approved to transfer to South Korea anyway but the squadron commander tore the orders up. Said I was too crazy and end up either dead or in a Korean prison. Airborne! Once you go there, there is no getting out. I sometimes will wear the wings on the Civil Air Patrol USAF uniform just to let them know I can go off at anytime.

Anyway, this is a sad ending to a good soldier. Chilling reminder that it is dangerous up there and anything can and will happen. Stay safe, guys. We appreciate what you're doing. I sleep better at night knowing it.
