I went to my local indoor range yesterday with the goal of finally putting some rounds through a P365. They only had a P365XL for rent, so I took that along with my P30sk and my FrankenGlock G43/G48 hybrid (G43slide on a G48 frame) into the range. The P365 felt great in my hand. However, it shot consistently low for me all day. Slow, fast, didn't matter - it was always low. Comparatively, the HK and Glock were spot on. I also found the Sig trigger to be less desirable than either the HK LEM or the Glock. Don't get me wrong, I am actually a Sig fan, just not so much this time around. The final nail in the coffin was the 4 different malfs in 60 rounds.

When I started the day, I thought I might be going home with a new pistol. Instead, I reconfirmed that my FrankenGlock is pretty tough to beat (for me). YMMV.

I did not shoot it, but dry fired at the local shop. Trigger felt clunky and was a bit small in the hand. Also a Sig fan and have P229 SA/DA SRT that I love. It is slightly large but is a great combat pistol if it ever comes to it. I wish Sig would make that model scaled down 75% of the size as it is hard to CC.

Preface: I'm a Sig fan. Picked up a 365XL a month ago after trading in my 938 that would not feed hollow points (Three trips back to the mothership didn't do a thing to rectify the issue). I was going to seriously consider an S&W Performance Center 2.0 compact with red dot. Nice gun and really, really good trigger. My dealer had just put the XL out when I came in. Short story, the Sig felt a little better in my hand (small guy) and higher capacity. The trigger in my XL is actually pretty good. Not quite a Performance Center but close enough.

So far, the XL has run any and everything I have fed it. Over 350-400 rounds with no issues. (I pray that continues.). Much less snappiness than the 938. Mine shoots very well and seems to be spot on in the accuracy department--if I do my part. I like the straight trigger. Everybody is different though. It may not have been a good day for you, or that particular gun is off, or the XL isn't for you. Glocks are fine guns and I shoot them well but they tear the knuckle on my middle finger up after 20-30 rounds. Heard its called Glock knuckle--don't know if that is true. My son has a 17 or 19(?) and loves it and has no issues with it. Just goes to show everyone is different.

Agreed. My experience is a sample size of one. The specific pistol I shot is not necessarily representative of the model in general.

I've had mine for over a year, concealed carried since 1984..... without a doubt the best carry gun I've owned. Capacity, 9mm +P firepower, accuracy, minimal muzzle jump, excellent point shoot double tap accuracy, and very concealable size.

I bought the 365XL a few months ago and it's been great through probably 700-800 rounds. The probable reason that you shot low is that it's designed for a combat sight picture; instead of using the top edge of the sights as a reference point, you use the middle of the dots. It's irritating to me, but I plan to put a red dot on it soon anyway so not a factor.

I’m gonna grab a regular sized 365 w/safety in the near future. Will probably wait for all the crap to settle first.
I rented one at the range a while back. Bought a box of Remington fmj’s, I think 115’s, and couldn’t miss the full size silhouette at 50 yards offhand, and, resting my wrists on a bag, I couldn’t miss a 10” plate at 50 yards. It never bobbled.

I did try using the combat sight picture, but still no joy. I need to get my hands on another one before writing the model off completely. too many good reports to let one day's experience be determinant.

If you live anywhere near Richmond, Virginia I would be happy to take you the range I use and you can shoot my XL all you want.

I've had my 365XL since August and have about 750 rounds through it. Except for the first two magazines, where I had several failures (5-6) to go fully into battery, it has run flawlessly. The gun was properly lubed, but just tight and needed some break in.

Mine shoots POI with a combat sight picture. Maybe I got an oddity, but my trigger is excellent! Everybody that has shot the pistol has shot it well and comments how good the trigger is. YMMV

I love my P365. I have had zero issues with it after several hundred rounds. It shoots poa/poi. I carry it everyday.

Which version of LEM are you using? Is it V1, V3, V4.1 another combo?

    thanks

I carry a p365 daily. Definitely my favorite carry gun. I bought a hellcat as well, but prefer the p365. I do like the sights on the hellcat over the sig.

This one purchased new Jan 2019, after Sig resolved some failure to battery incidents. Now with 1325 rounds, multiple ammo types, not a single malfunction. At 1100 rnds installed a Gray Guns flat trigger just because. Lots of magazine options, slightly taller than a G43 when a 15 rnd mag installed. Very accurate, easy to shoot from extended ready, transition or from the holster. It's in a rotation will similar sized options, otherwise I would enjoy having a higher round count. Easy to carry with Elite Survival pocket holster. PSA- avoid the Ruger LCP, it hurts the palm to shoot more than 20 rounds at a time.

They make just what you asked for, it's called the P229C (compact) which is a standard size P229 frame fitted with a shorter standard P224 slide. The P229C is just a little bigger profile than the 365. The 229C's also come with SAS (Sig-Anti-Snag) custom shop chamfering of all the edges for optimal concealed carry / holster work. The P229C in .357 Sig is one of my favorite choices for personal defense. A few size comparison photos really can see how close some of these models are.

I have both P229 and P224 with the same features. 229 actually feels better when firing in my opinion and really doesn't feel that much smaller other than the extreme shortness of the grip. I do love that SRT trigger. Thanks.

I started using the extended 12 round mag to get a better grip. Then learned of the swap with a P365 XL grip. The one I received did not have a mag release. I used the exacto knife method to remove the mag release from the smaller grip. I ruined the keeper. Seems like I cut it with the knife. It is plastic. The mag release is nowhere to be had. So my pistol sets in the gunsmith shop. I ordered a mag release from Brownells and a XL grip WITH mag release but both are on backorder. I was having trouble with mag changes with the short grip.

I really was impressed with the365 I handled so much so I talked my brother in law into buying one. He has went through several hundred rounds and hasn’t regretted his purchase. I wouldn’t used rental guns for a baseline on my purchase no telling what those guns had done to them.

I currently carry a P365 and have had zero issues with it, probably 800-1000rds through. Want to have the slide milled eventually, flat trigger, maybe the XL slide, haven't handled one of those yet. Always intrigued in the variance in experiences people can have with the same firearm.

Local funstore is supposed to have a batch of 365's w/manual safety coming in on the 2nd. I'm on the list.

I need to start putting together some 9mm stuff (brass, dies, bullets). I thought about grabbing a nice heavy flatnose mould for it, but it'll soon be too danged hot to cast, so I'll likely start it off with some Speers or XTP's and some cheaper plinking bullet of the same weight. All this assumes I can find 9mm componentry at this point.

BTW, anybody handloaded for one? Thinking Starline brass and either 115's or 123's or so. Have Unique, H-Universal, and Ramshot Silhouette on hand.

I like to detail the designs of firearms with photos. When I disassembled my in 2019 a safety wasn't offered yet.....photo of
my comment-to-self, then. As you can see Sig had already planned on having a manual safety with detents integrated into fire control unit.

I like mine so much I bought a second. Stock config is just fine by me. Accurate, light smooth trigger, 100% reliable, and just melts into my hand and disappears into its IWB Kydex.

I reload for all of my 9mm pistols (including P-365 Sigs). I have used the same handload since 1978; 115 JHP, Unique 5.9. Start much lower & always work up to your best load. Old Unique may be different than current production Unique. I used Ken Waters Pet Loads & Handloader Magazine data as starting load development because they tested lots of powders for accuracy. For CC, I only use factory loads.

"glocktalk threads on Apr 20, 2010 · In Ken Waters Pet Loads, he has a 9mm 115 Grain load with 6.2 grains of Unique which goes 1220 fps out of a Beretta 92S (4.9 inch barrel - I assume, since the article doesn't say). My Midway USA Load Map book won't go over 5.4 grains of Unique. My Hornady manual (4th edition) won't go over 5.1 grains of Unique."
This seems to suggest that current powder is more powerful than older powder or manufacturers are more concerned about potential liability.

I have never had any problems with mine. Doesnt feel great in the hands, but I tolerate it because of the capacity

I use it as a pocket gun and on the ankle
