Are you, or do you know, any FFLs who have comparable experiences to share???

Here's one story:

It is scary that most are first time owners. I know around me most shooting ranges are closed. You have a bunch of people with brand new firearms with no clue how to shoot or even begin to know what it is like to pull the trigger on their new gun. I'm happy I already have what I need and am very familiar with them.

I wonder what % are first time buyers. Is that your gut feeling or is there any evidence of that?

In the article posted in this thread he claimed 8,9 out of 10 were new. I would say that would be a pretty fair snap shot. I know last time I was at my LGS you could almost tell most buying guns were new by the conversations going on. I'm sure not all though.

Probably a lot of them won't even ever load them or fire them, but just having it will make them feel safer.

Either way it probably helps the cause of freedom as we have more people that don't want to give up what makes them feel secure.

Salesman knew who was going to be a statistic by the first question they asked before buying the gun.

I know a lot of folks who bought guns in the last 18 months but did not listen to my advice about ammo.

And they got NONE to load their mags with......

Im taking some whiskey to the boys and girls who work at my regular range/shop.
They deserve it.
They can have it after closing up.

It is a weird thing to see people do. They buy a handgun and buy two boxes of ammo and call it good. Since I buy by the case(s) it just doesn't register. :)

For a lot of folks who buy a gun just in case and probably aren't going to practice much with it, 100 rounds of ammunition is probably all they will ever need if even that.

You really only need tons of ammo if you are going to be practicing a lot or are preparing for some significant event or just plain want to never have to worry about running out. That would be us on this site mostly. But a lot of the general public have their guns for the just in case thing, much like a fire extinguisher.

I was at a range a few weeks ago. A couple showed up there with a new AR. They asked me a few questions. I could tell they were new to it and I helped them the best I could .They each took a few shots and called it good, packed up their ammo and left. Maybe they were just really fast learners IDK. I usually only leave the range with ammo in my carry gun and a few empty boxes.

Yes, there are a lot of stupid people.
Well. They are part of the way there. Most gun folks I have met have been quite generous with info, knowledge and ammo. I think the more allies from across the ideological spectrum you have, the likelier you can secure gun rights long term. Moderate gun owners in VA suburbs who vote is who I’ve got in mind.

They'll probably sit there, looking at their new gun, torn with conflicting emotions. Fear. Disgust. A sense of necessity? Not knowing what to do next.

What do they do first they ask themselves? Which way do the bullets go in? How do they load it?

I wish I could be there to watch. hehehe

Wait until the toilet paper runs out in the hood and the $1200 check is long gone. They will probably figure they will just go don their gay apparel, AKA hoodies, and jack somebody up and get what they need. Gonna be some surprised people when they are confronted by the new firearm owners. It's going to be more confusion than Father's Day in East Austin.

The modern age has made experts in the matter of hours.

have thought many times about getting an ffl only for my self though being a greedy som bitch lol that and I am really not a fan of paper work , but maybe in a few year i'd get one for now it's just easier to call one of the many in my area and go through them . I don't mind paying them a bit more than they ask if it saves me time and effort , they got to eat too don't they besides so far they have gotten me some really nice prices and are extremely helpful in finding thing that online could take me a heck of a lot longer to get my hands on .

The FFL I work has been completely cleaned out. Distributors are cleaned out. It's been heinous. Customers have been desperate and panicky. I actually had a guy try to get me to trade him ammo from my personal inventory for stuff he had.
