Rifle Scopes Vortex strike eagle 5-25 ffp

at first glance i thought , Gen2 Razor parts bin special .
but obviously a totally different configuration , sounds like it has the Zero stop from Gen1 Razor / Gen2 PST which is good
Great reticle , reasonably compact at 14.7" which is a win . 31 mils elevation is a winner and it only weighs 800 grams . so def a consideration for a comp rifle or even a Hunter . id say its a Philippines made scope

Is it a somewhat similar quality of Razor lines?

I see... my hope was big on this scope since it has 34mm tube and street price of $699.
:(

Might want to wait until they hit the street and in hands before you start frowning.

Didn’t realize there were forced sponsorships. Crazy.

That's funny and true. Something people don't think about when they bring in their last gun in an argument and scream "sponsorship".

Ordered one from sport optics. Looking forward to getting it mounted up and put through the paces. Any idea what height rings with a 30 moa rail? I was thinking arc mediums would work.

What rifle? Makes a difference.

It's actually a different zero stop system. Uses a collar like the new Razor LHT series. Excited to see how these are once they hit the wild. I've never bothered to look through the Strike Eagle series of scopes before, but this one could find its way onto my 22lr.

The pst is Philippines, where do you think the cost savings is?

The entire line of first gen strike eagles were China. I doubt that changed.

Ya it’s definitely a china made scope. Vortex admitted that on Instagram in the comments. Seems like the cost savings is in the glass (not gen 2 pst good) and the zero stop system, which causes you to lose some of the total travel but sounds like it’s cheaper to manufacture

So how much cheaper is it street price than a FFP pst gen 2?

Cant you find the gen 2 for around 800.00?

I wonder if the ~200.00 price difference is really noticeable in the glass.

Sounds like it'll be the cats ass for a rimfire trainer.

Ya I wanna throw mine on my 22 competition rifle. I want to see if someone does a head to head against the Arken scopes. I’m curious how they stack up

Not a 5-25 PST. They are around $1000 and the Strike Eagle will end up around $650 area.

As for the glass and zero stop, we will have to wait until they are on the streets to see how they end up but from the people I spoke to that have used them the glass is pretty good for the price point. No report on zero stop yet but I doubt you lose any elevation from it. Scope has 31 mils so there will be elevation below the stop as there always is with any zero stop but it’s not losing any.

Eurooptic still has the PST Gen II available with the 2D reticle for $829. A while back I snagged mine as low as $699, which is a pretty amazing deal. The 2D reticle was a limited run made for MidwayUSA that is similar to the 2C, but with the elevation numbers on the outside of the christmas tree reticle.

Yeah that's a special deal on a special run scope. Not the normal pricing. Yes it's a good deal though. Also only the main crosshair is illuminated on the 2D. You can get the SE for $460 LE/Mil but that's not the normal price.

I already ordered one. Everything I was looking at for my new T1x, came up short: No zero stop, bad reticle/no illum, parallax too high, too expensive, not FFP, not mil/mil, etc.

Saw a video on a YT channel I subscribe to, Impact shooting, and it had everything I wanted. Ordered it the same day I saw it.

Not at all , quality will be in between Viper - PST 2
psst....the PST is in the viper line.

it will be between the Diamondback and the Viper line

Do you realize that what I quoted was someone saying that it’s between the viper line and the viper line?....even though I knew what he probably meant, it isn’t even accurate. It’s between the Diamondback line and the viper line...if you’re going to respond in such a manner, you should probably make sure you’re not a moron.

You had no name quoted , and it looked like a direct response .
If anything you're the moron and stfu and move on .
I wasn't being a smart ass with my response .

In other news, perfect for nrl22 by the looks of it.

Crazy, that was a question, not sure how you get forced anything out of it. You can google: Marketing strategies and sponsors, it's really straight forward. Some companies give away more stuff than others and when it is free and/or compensation, and it works, most (not all) say yes.

Mine will be here this week. Hopefully get it mounted up to the Vudoo and out it through the paces.
Do you have a confirmed ship date yet? I ordered mine and order is still processing.

And just like that, Arken is taking a back seat to the 600$ 34mm bracket.

I called it 4 months ago.

Got an email from sport optics that their shipment comes in this Friday and scopes will be shipping out shortly after.

yup, the Arken came up short in several ways.
This new strike eagle is what the Arken should have been.
The main reason is supply. People are not going to wait 10 weeks on a sub 1000$ scope. If there’s options available, they’ll go with the in stock item.

I just ordered from AA Optics and they said it will ship tomorrow (Tuesday). Once I get it I'll report back with initial impressions, and throw it on a 22 trainer. I have a 200 yard range so I'll go back and forth about 7mils and see how it tracks. Do a box test and so forth.

I always run Tacs but with the features I wanted to try this one, especially since it's illuminated, tons of travel, and hard zero stop. If it has turrets like the diamondback tactical line it will be a quick sale after I get it. Cant stand those mushy turrets. BUT, I didn't mind the turrets on the 4-24 SE I had a sold. My thoughts have been that this is more of a direct competitor with the Tac, but we will see how the glass stacks up. I've had the PST gen 1 and 2, and the Tac that I'm most interested in comparing with. I'll put it side by side with a NX8 4-32 just for kicks, and not a serious comparison.

I think like most of you all, I'll put some hope in this scope for the sake of the features to put on a trainer. If it holds up well, I'll order another.

was on youtube today and this caught my attention. Did this ever come to the public?

Yes there were 3-18 strike eagles but those are not the same beast as this new scope.

Yes, I realize that they are not the same scope. But my general thought is the image quality could be similar ?

I wouldn't compare the new scope to the older ones. Just like the Gen II PSTs compared to the Gen 1. If they revamp a scope they will make it better than the last one.

I wonder if the ~200.00 price difference is really noticeable in the glass.

Not counting limited model sales, LE/MIL/buddy prices when the PST ii 7c first came out no one was selling them under $1000, now you can easily find them for $850, DVOR has them for that every couple weeks. Even with 13% off the best price I've seen for the Strike Eagle was $613, meaning it's less than $250 to go up to the PST 2 for "average joe" street prices right now. Now 6-12 months from now the prices on the Strike Eagle might drop, or we'll see a PST III and they will hard price it back up to $1000+ and the delta will change. So on one hand while it's kind of unfair to compare the just released "beta tester premium" price of the brand new Strike Eagle to a 3+ year old PST II (just with a new reticle) street price, that's the reality of things now. Now I hope a $700 2020 Strike Eagle is better than a 3 year old $700 Vortex, but how close is it to the PST 2, when you're only saving $235. Might be closer than we think with another 3 years of development.

If there's one thing I've learned it's if you are in the $750-$1250 tier for optics, hold out for deals, because unlike the top tier stuff, there are always killer blowouts at least three times a year.

Off the top of my head in the last 2 years:
LRHS 3-18's for $750
LRTS 3-18 for $1000 bundled with a Kestrel Sportsman Ballistic Link
Vortex PST II 5-15's 2D for $675, 5-25's 2D's for $775
Sig Tango 6 3-18's for $850
FX 1000 4-16 illum for $380
Athlon Ares BTR 4-27's for $425
Bushnell is running 25% price rebates at least twice a year.

And there's probably at least a dozen others that I missed.

Just got a confirmed tracking. My (2) Strike Eagle 5-25x56's will be here late today or tomorrow morning depends how fast the UPS drives. Prior Vortex orders I have seen show up to my door in 2 days of less. With the Corona and Easter its alright for the 5 day wait I suppose. NRL22 would be an excellent option from all the research I am trying to do on these. Who knows might be a really big bang for the buck. Critical but hopeful. I plan on throwing one on a 224V Bolt Gun and a 6.5/6BR switchlug setup. Nothing super heavy recoil, but both are easily capable of 1k yards.
