The issue with the models has been discussed in other threads. Models need input parameters. The most important parameter in this case is the amount of people an infected person can infect before becoming symptomatic. Nobody knows that number precisely. It depends on the longevity of the virus, how far respiratory droplets travel, the distance between individuals, whether the initial carrier is actually quarantined when symptomatic, the degree of contact tracing, etc.

After the number of cases in other countries exploded, it was wise to assume a fast spread without mitigation attempts like social distancing. That led to the decisions of shutting countries down before their cases spiked. This virus is not as deadly as MERS for example but it has proven (!) to spread orders of magnitude faster. Even if it would 'only' be as deadly as the flu, the explosive growth of case would have overwhelmed the health systems of even the most developed countries. (In the next few weeks we can expect the relatively feeble health system in India to be overwhelmed even with lock-down measures).

The models were then used to estimate the demand for beds, respirators, etc. But again the rate of new infections from one carrier is a dependent variable, not a known constant. Who knows how effective limited social distancing is, to what extend the population follows the suggestions/orders, how the changing weather affects the virus, how fast the virus mutates, etc. If all that were known, then we would not need iterative modeling, we would plug some numbers into a relatively simple equation and be done with it.
(Remember the surprise with the models predicting Hillary's victory. They accounted for a lot of things except the fact that the population was silently raising the finger to the verifiably corrupt establishment candidate. Brexit was another instance where modeled predictions fell short of reality)

Even if you do not care about who dies, the amount of cases without social distancing would have shut down our life in a much worse way than what we experience now. At some point people panic and then you get economic collapse on top of social unrest. A decent analogy wold be a planed evacuation vs. a panic stampede. The venue is empty in both cases, like our streets, but the number of trampled people and broken furniture will differ greatly.

After the Plague, the Spanish Flu, N1H1, SARS, MERS, Ebola, etc. it was clear that sooner or later we would have to deal with another pandemic. Well, it was our turn to deal with it today. There is no need to blame Bill Gates or anyone else for this. Every farmer knows that if you put 5000 chicken in one coop and a contagious disease sneaks in you are going to have a lot of dead chicken. Every farmer also knows that the first thing to do is to isolate healthy chicken from the infected population and if that's not possible anymore then spread the chicken (or clusters of them) as far apart as you can.

All that does not excuse the abuses of delegated power we witness recently. The decision for social distancing was prudent and reasonable, the muscle flexing of some governors is not. But it is a good opportunity to separate pre-election promises from actual character and intent.

seems very very few are dieing without underlying conditions. Looks like more are going to die from the regular flu this year, heart attacks this year, diabetes this year, car wrecks this year, shall i go on? than this virus even with the fact that if u die today, there's probably better than 90% chance it's going to be marked down virus related NO MATTER WHAT. They have got to get their number some way or another. Also the fact there is a cure even though the MSM would rather chock on each other's dicks than admit it . What's that mean, go back to work. If u get a severe case, u will be treated kinda like any other disease and you'll be fine.

The model graphs had a confidence interval (shaded area around the projected curve) that clearly identified the models as what we call SWAG - Scientific Wild-Ass Guess. Nobody tried to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. The problem is that -- thanks to the public fool system-- most people lack even the most basic understanding of medicine, biology, physics, and mathematics to comprehend the issues with this disease. They cannot admit that, not even to themselves, but have to fill that intellectual void with something.

Not such a long time ago there were people who could not allow the existence of a spherical Earth orbiting a star called Sun because that thought threatened their sense of order, human superiority, and power. Today, where we can shoot everything bleeding that could use us as prey, some people cannot deal with the fact that a tiny, invisible structure, that is strictly not even alive, could challenge our existence as a species just because Nature or God decided so. There needs to be someone to blame behind the curtain. Something you could shoot if you had the balls.

Let me ask this again:
Why would Trump want to trash the economy that virtually guaranteed his re-elections?
Why would the Globalists trash the entire world economy while they were making big money by driving us further and further into dependency and debt?

So far no answer from the conspiracy theorists. Just one liners: "Don't listen to him". "There is a man behind the curtain". "He is just scared". But no evidence for the claims and no action against that potential man behind the curtain, not even a proposal of action.

You know what I am scared about? Something like MERS (case fatality ~30%) with the ability to spread like SARS-CoV-2, which is absolutely in the realm of natural, biological possibilities. We better have a little bit more than conspiracy theories as a response when (not if) that bugger arrives.

Also, what would you want to do tomorrow if you had the choice and would actually believe your own theories? Grab a pitchfork or just go back to work?

Fair enough.

If I would be President , God have mercy with my soul, I would have filmed two little experiments with bugs and a contagious, reasonably deadly bacterium. One side with 'social distancing', the other side tightly packed. Then, I would have said: "We don't know what is exactly going to happen with this Wuhan Virus. Nobody does. But from what we have seen in other countries it looks more like the side with a lot of dead bugs if we keep going like we do now. I cherish our Constitution as much as you do but I think we should keep some distance even if it means that we cannot pray to God the Father in our churches or to the God of Mammon in our factories and shopping malls. The more distance we keep to each other, the earlier we can go back to church, work, malls, and other densely populated venues."

This approach is based on my observation that in a word of 'reality shows' most people have a hard time trusting someone with something they cannot visualize.

There definitely needs to be a global discussion about the Chines that traveled around the world for their New Year celebration in mid February. There is a clear causal relationship between that and the global spread of Covid-19. Some of the channels you frequent suggested a version of the Nuremberg trials. I am all for that.

However, if one farmer makes a lot of money from a certain weather, that does not prove that the farmer influenced the weather. One of the most uncomforting facts on this planet is that climate, weather, and the rest of nature do whet they want to do, whether it pleases us or not.

Anyone care to show ANY FUCKING models that were understating a FUTURE catastrophe?!?!?!
IF the "Experts" who created all these models were NOT biased in their desired outcomes then by statistics these models would follow a BELL Curve distribution. By bell curve... Some would be predicting benign and some would be predicting catastrophe. When ALL the published models predict catastrophe then something else is driving this "crisis" than purely unbiased modelers/experts.

And as for those models, it’s important to realize that no overall sea level change theory encompassing thermal expansion of oceans, melting of mountain glaciers, and changes, both positive and negative, of Greenland and Antarctic sheets even exists


In any case, let’s review what IPCC has projected in their Summary for Policymakers reports crafted for prime time media audiences:

Trump did not shut down the Econ, it was done by D state governors and virtue signaling by large corporations.

There are other thing that makes it very unlikely, albeit not impossible, that this virus was intentionally man made. Every reasonably advanced nation on this planet has the technology to 'reprogram' a virus. This is used in gene therapy as we speak. I was GM of a company that made machines to produce RNA and DNA strands of your choice. Read the sequence from a RNA sample (in vitro) to a computer (in silico) or download it from a genetic sequence database, modify a few bits (base pairs), and write the code back out into an RNA sample(in vitro). Combining, amplifying, and Inserting these RNA pieces into a virus is standard lab practice. Let that virus infect a cell and you will get viruses according to the new code.

There is an unwritten understanding in the community of molecular biologists and everyone who funds this stuff that if you fuck around with something like this as a weapon, you run the same risk as using nukes as weapons. This WILL get out of hand and there will be nothing left to 'occupy'. Either the virus mutates and kills your folks as well or the other side will nuke or germ you once they figure out your dirty deeds.

China is after world domination, not world annihilation. They are also very patient people and were nicely on their way to put us in the chains of their cheap shit and associated debt. This economic fallout from Covid-19 will cost them dearly and torpedo a lot of their power gains.

According to what I have read about the virus, some archived job postings from the Wuhan biolab, and later disappearance of researchers both from the physical as well as the virtual world, I believe (!) that Covid-19 came out of their lab in Wuhan as the result of a big f-up while studying zoonotic viruses that jump from animals to humans. I cannot conclusively prove or disprove this. It is just the most likely explanation of the available evidence. It is undisputed that the CCP tried to suppress knowledge and warnings about this outbreak and should be held responsible for that.

I did not want to bring up the IPCC topic in an attempt to stay on track here but you will be surprised that I severely doubt their hockey stick models. Not because I have stock in oil and gas but because I cannot find a physical mechanism that would support this exponential behavior. I have asked every expert who would answer. So far no explanation. We can discuss the details in another thread if you like.

Back to the infectious disease topic. Do you also believe that someone engineered HIV, Ebola, or cancer?

Trump made the call, nobody held a gun to his head. You can watch the videos on the youtube channel of the U.S. State Department.
He could have overridden the governors and companies with the defense appropriations act.

But maybe Trump was already killed by the deep state and what we see is just an actor or CGI. I knew, I should have bought some tinfoil last month.

I do not blame Trump for his call and the economical downturn, I would have done the same thing. The choice was either economy fucked or many unnecessary deaths plus a fucked economy. You did notice that this has turned into a global economic crisis?

No, I don't believe SARs Cov2 was weaponized.
I do believe REVENUE drives the US healthcare decision makers.. This "pandemic" is gonna fill their bank accounts with untold riches.
Included in this are the drug companies and labs..
I foresee billions of dollars for NEW funding to plan for the cornucopia of possible future pandemics these "UNBIASED" experts predict.

That would be comparing apples to oranges as we never shut down anything for the flu.

And, as I have already mentioned many times, nobody has ever seen as many flu cases AT ONCE in NYC, Washington, Italy, etc.

This is NOT the fucking flu, not genetically, not in its effect on the healthcare system, not in its pathological manifestation. Someone mentioned "initially flu-LIKE symptoms" and now every 'expert' calls it the flu of 2019. If it would be the fucking flu then why don't we use a flu shot against it?

Other than in NYC, LA, Chicago, etc. the hospital systems are not overwhelmed. Quite the opposite, their are hundreds of empty beds meant for COVID victims that never came. They are having to dismantle some of the tent hospitals built by the military because they are empty.

The entire country is NOT NYC and LA. Let's stop pretending we need to act like it is.

Eisenhower famously warned the public of the nation’s increasingly powerful military-industrial complex and the threat it posed to American democracy. Today, the United States routinely outspends every other country for military and defense expenditures.

Maybe the "Healthcare Industrial Complex" is the new threat to democracy?

Let me try this again. Most states got orders to hunker down.

In the big metro areas the disease had already spread unnoticed because of lack of testing and the relatively long incubation period. Also it is not that easy to social distance in these chicken coops. So, the distancing worked in the heartland but not in the metros for obvious reasons. I have no problem if it stayed that way. Would certainly shift the demographics in our favor.

If it flares up in the rural communities, the very scattered medical resources will be quickly overwhelmed. Please try to avoid this. The economy is fucked anyway. You are not going to change that with your personal behavior.

EVERY industry or organization that bribes politicians into special interest favors is a threat to our republic. Big Pharma is certainly one of them. Wife worked decades for Merck. BIL for Pfizer. The little I know about the games they play already pegs your blood pressure.

You cannot assume that it will be 18 next week. This grows exponential not linearly. I am too tired to calculate an estimate for next week and you will probably not believe it anyway. Just assume that it is able to bust the 23 if nothing changes.
