How come,

Prolly b/c the FDA (insurance companies) won't authorize us to poison ourselves the same way we poison our pets--I'll ask my SIL who works at IDEXX, lol, but if i can run the same risk taking a pill that i do spraying my shit with DEET and Permethrin all summer, i'll take the red/blue pill...

My wife is a retired Dognurse. A sales rep invited the Vet hospital and spouses out for a paid dinner while they did their slide presentation about their new Tick product.

After they were done I told them they needed to develop something to ward Ticks off of humans. They looked at me like I had two heads and wanted to know why humans would need it.

Exactly. And people should also be able to use shock collars to train their kids to act right.

Also, I work out in dense tick infested woods almost daily. I send my pants off to be treated with permethrin and it works great. I find dead ticks on my them quite often after I get home. Mosquitos, well...good luck.

I do like how we can walk into most any grocery store or gas station and buy chemical substances which are perfectly legal to ingest despite killing approximately a half-million people each year, but yet the FDA sees fit to "protect" me from a large number of drugs which might be useful. Thanks, assholes.

Dogs can take a pill to ward off fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes but I can’t

I want to take a pill once a month and avoid bugs in the woods too

No pill needed... Man has mastered the use of fire.

+1 on the dog collar.

The aliens made a deal with the drug companies that they would provide the technology if the drug companies would only give the drugs to dogs. The aliens are trying to make dogs the dominant life form instead of humans because dogs have shown a natural affinity for aliens.

This topic was discussed on reddit a while ago. Here is a post that IMO has a lot of valid explanations with links:

The hair doesn't move the pesticide around. It is absorbed into the sebaceous glands (oil glands) and is distributed through them. Through the natural oil production of the sebaceous glands producing oil it is spread to the rest of the hair.

Essentially you are using a systemic pesticide to make your entire pet become toxic to the insects.
The dose only just lasts for a month.
The reason it wouldn't work in humans as we'll (though it is used) would be due to the hair density. The insect would have to come into contact with the hair (that's where the oil gland produces it's insecticidal concoction. So an insect is less likely to encounter a hair on us as it would be on a cat or a dog.
It is used on humans sparingly.

Guaran-fuckin'-tee that "hair density" is not an insufficiency with many of the guys here. As long as we're not talking about scalps.

ACV comes in pill form, as does Garlic. ACV wards off most bugs an Garlic helps ward off tics in those the ACV won't.
You'll find many who play/ed in the woods use ACV all the time. Too much garlic will give you away,... just the right amount also helps attract the young two legged slit tails,...but keeps tics away,... fact!

Give this a try Frank: www.bugtamer.com in conjunction with the Thermacell mentioned above by M1Army. The combination works very well for me and these skeeters down here in the Big Cypress can stand flat footed and rape a full grown turkey! Good luck and stay safe.

Guys

I know how to keep mosquitoes away, we use all the above, that is not hte point

I am not looking for a remedy, I don't have a problem with it, but seeing the same commercial on TV every hour about flea and tick pills for dogs I decided I wanted to take a pill too

I saw a commercial for Boy Scouts to call an 800 number if they were molested too, doesn't mean I need to call the number, there was also a commercial about Church molesters with a different 800 number,

this is probably gonna give a few of you Eagle Scouts some flashbacks, you know the time you got that special merit badge.

But I want to just drop a pill once a month and keep the bugs away, is that so hard, dogs get it, I want it.

I get thermocells work, sprays work, pants soaked in toxic chemicals work, but I want to take a pill, my dog said it works great, right after he told me the neighbors need to go.

That’s a good question really. If there is a health reason that those pills are bad for the animal, then why are they acceptable? Or are animals lives less important?

Depends on who's life we're talking about. I would sacrifice my dog in a second to save my kids, grandkids, wife...anyone close. Everyone else is on their own.
