That shit looks like it hurts. Or maybe I can get into it but I'll need help getting out of it.
I've got a local low key service rifle match this weekend that I might have to try this at for the sitting position.
Color me jealous. Quarantined a match(March), I had to cancel April, May not looking good.
Anyhow, interested to hear how the position works, might give it a try next range day.
yeah I would like to try it for hunting. Our sagebrush is at least that tall so prone is usually impossible and kneeling can be difficult due to the wind blowing you around.
That's the famous wedgie heel to toe sitting position. I use it when hunting to shoot over the top of brush when I forget my sticks. It doesn't work very well if your shorts get a strangle hold on a testicle and/or hemorrhoids. Be sure to avoid cactus. Don't ask me how I know.
A taller bipod fixes this. I have used this position a few times as well. It usually follows a 4 letter word so maybe that will help you decide what to call it...

When I was a kid shooting 50 foot smallbore and service rifle with m14's I had the most unorthodox sitting postion. Legs out in front of me, ankles crossed, right elbow on right knee and left elbow on right ankle. It drove people nuts when they saw me do it. No way I could do it now, too old and too fat. Kind of reminds me of that a little.
The Bisley Matches in the UK are still done that way. Up to 1200 yds, no bipod, sling, or rests.
