    Today's chapeau.....

    image.jpg

Been wearing it all day doing yard work so I'll make it tonight's drinking hat.

Story on this one begins in Moscow.

Was watching the movie "The Outlaw Josie Wales".

Thoroughly entertained and properly lubed on Heinekens I gave "Goose" Geisenhoff a blank check and told him to order me up a Josie Wales getup from his Dixie Gun Works catalog.

"Goose" was an historian of sorts so he was the good choice. Got out of the Marine Corps than came back in as an officer, last I head he was a Lt Col or something training Afghan Police in country.

So he got me that hat, an 1860 Army, a brass frame short barrel .44. And a holster rig.

Shit couldn't ship overseas so I didn't see what he got me for close to two years.

The .44s were great but both now are beat. The 1860 I decided to clean by putting into a container of solvent I used to clean motorcycle parts. Shit burned skin on contact.

Wouldn't have been a problem unless you forget to go talk the gun out of the tank.

    Who is that stupid?

Didn't feel like breaking a sweat battoning wood to get the "Offerings to the Gods" pit going......

    Time for a beverage....

This was my wandering into the strange last trip to the package store. It's palatable but you Britophile homos can keep that shit.

From now and ever more my "sippings" will come from places like Kentucky and right here in the USA, mostly made with Rye grain grown in Gods chosen soil.

Josie actually uses a Walker .44.

Don't know why Goose didn't by me one of those but each cylinder takes about a can of powder so I'm glad he didn't.

The Colt 1860 Army is about as dead sexy lines wise as any revolver ever has been.

I'd put a gros grain ribbon on it but the neighborhood is all out of Millners these days.

What's under the ball cap.......looks like my style.

    Beautiful land by the way......

What's under the ball cap is definitely your style, the Miller WW1 doughboy high crown.

Thanks for the compliment on the grass. Going to have a couple Hide members come visit, had to spiff it up.

Waiting for somebody to ID the ball cap. @Terry Cross should recognize it. I think he and Jim Clark were there when I snagged it. Im pretty sure that cap, or Sundays cap is in a pic with midget, TC, and me.

** Found the pic of TC, the midget, and the cap, hiding in the corner with me. **

I hate wearing a hat. Always have but since the skin cancer started a year ago I have been wearing a Panama Jack hat with a fairly wide brim. Wearing long sleeves and a hat year round takes getting used to. Having your skin carved off, burned off or chemically removed is not much fun either. So hats and long sleeve shirt.......MEH. part of life.

Wearing a hat from Finland, while I load Swedish re branded powder into brass cases and primers made in Taiwan and suff my cases with American copper and lead and my face with Kentucky Rye.

Only in America. God loves us.

Ever load heavy because of the Kentucky Rye ?

Not that I've found yet. Most of the time it's Bourbon or Scotch. I did catch myself loading my H4350 charge weight into one of my 6.5x47s with Varget. Thank God Vargets density is so much lighter than H4350. After 10 or so rounds of seeing powder in the neck I had an Ah ha moment .

I shoot all but 6.5x47 and 6 Dasher compressed and double weight everything on a 10-10. Doesn't stop me from using the wrong powder on occasion though. On my 2nd kenetic puller.....

Shit, I saw the pics before I read the post and I thought that was an original 1860...

That thing will still run though... Just needs a slight bit of work, and a tack weld on the arbor retaining pin at the back of the frame so it does not loosen up when you are way in the boonies shooting hogs with full chambers of 3F. The Colt single action mechanism is so legendary in this fact that a single flat hair pin can be easily used for field expedient and emergency parts replacement...
