I was out Sunday shooting Matches and cards at 50yds. This match took 4 hits without breaking. The wind was off and on about 10 mph. You could hit 4 or 5 in a row then miss a few. Card went well 5 shots for two cards with Kidd. Tikka Tix first clean cut, next card was not on edge ( could see a little more than just edge. Card was hit 3 times before cut into.

That match is not strait up and down.
If it were strait the retical would shadow the whole thing.

The others that were broke looked strait.

We would shoot sticks shoved in the sand, with handguns.

I would always look for a long strait stick. I would take my time setting it strait in the ground.

Start at base and move slowly up the stick till the trigger broke.

You're just greasing them.

I've had matches take 2-3 before I got a good center hit. Each stick is different, and some are more robust than others.

Playing cards are a bitch. Especially when your buddy gives it a tweak. I've hit them 2-3 times before they were cut if they had a bend. You'd aim, only hit front and back, move slightly, only hit the middle 1/8" lower, etc. I've left grease marks on playing cards several times before getting a clean cut. They also need to be dead nuts straight with your shooting position.

I learned through our indoor fun matches, always set your own target and get squared up to the cards. We have blocks cut for 8 matches/toothpicks and then staple a card on each side. I got way more consistent on the cards when I started shifting side to side to get squared up on them.

Have you tried to light 'em?:p 50 yds.? 50 ft. would be be hard for me to believe without being there. Good shooting.

Our fun shoots we give a 50 point bonus to light the match. I've only seen it happen once.

Then again I couldn't light one of these new green tip matches on anything except the pad on the box trying to start a fire. They don't light well at all anymore.
