Copperhead. Know a couple of folks bitten by copperheads and wasn't a major deal outside of a lot of pain. But know of a couple others that went into anaphylactic shock and never made it to hospital.Doing some weeding this am before it heats up and I look over at this brick and what do I see

Yep. Called my guy and by the time he got here he was gone. I’ll be on over watch for the next few days.Copperhead. Great looking creature, better to have a bullsnake at your elbow than a rattler with a bad attitude.Ya, the Prime Box snake is not poisonous, it's a bull snake I am pretty sure
I was actually shooting when it crawled onto my mat I looked up and it was on my databook

BUT and this is a big but, he did find 2 other snakes while he was here. Fucking moccasins. Those motherfuckers are just straight mean.
Oh yeah. They will straight swim a cross a pond if u r on the other side and come at you. Territorial and just fucking nasty.Been chased by one on more than one occasion. The worst
Oh SHIT !............
I'm in Western Washington. We don't have any of those, but we do have a lot of snakes of a different persuasion.........
Here’s a pair of copperheads doing the deal on a walking path behind my home.
There bad around here, worries me when my grandkids are out playing...
That used to be my mantra as well. I still feel bad about killing a speckled king snake a few years ago. They kill poisonous ones. But it was dusk and all I saw was a snake coiled up and shaking it's tail (heard nothing) and then it struck at me....well, that was it. Crowbar to head a few times. Then I realized after it was dead and I got a look at it's belly it was a king snake, about 3 feet long. Those I'm okay with...out it the yard - come in my garage or house......well, if I know it's a king snake then I'll sweep it out; but otherwise I'm going to smash it.Choot um! Every snake is a dangerous snake to me. Kill them all.....better safe than sorry.
You're not wrong........The wife is jazzed about S. Dakota after I retire. You can keep that state...used to be nice but total shithole now. Your best bet is head East for Northern Idaho. Its pretty sad to see what happened to the NW. Inslee and Jerry Brown's commie sister have really jacked up that whole region.
Why didn't you get shovel and make four snakes out of two?
Here’s one from work here in Jal NM a few weeks back, count the rattlers.....

I have rattlesnake problems at my house. About 3 years ago one killed my dog. I have to be very careful going in the back door or out buildings. I havent had one yet this year, but usually kill 4 or 5 every year. Other than chicken snakes, they compete for the eggs or the rattlers, I give the rest a pass. That used to be my mantra as well. Just and FYI, apparently they make a vaccine for rattlesnakes and dogs. I don't know how it works. Since at the moment I'm dogless I haven't looked into this anymore.I have rattlesnake problems at my house. About 3 years ago one killed my dog. I can't tell from the pic that looks like a diamond back but it's got green tint to it like a Mojave do you know what species that guy was?
Haha. Nope.I hope that you were using a big telephoto lens!
She had the shots. She was bit more than 4 times in the face. The vet said it was to much to close to the brain. So now they are marked for death!Just and FYI, apparently they make a vaccine for rattlesnakes and dogs. I don't know how it works. Since at the moment I'm dogless I haven't looked into this anymore.

I have only had one rattle snake actually come after me. I tripped over it on a trail hunting desert quail in Az at a run.
It was mad and followed me for about 6 feet while I crawled backwards and continued to strike at my combat boots. My shotgun went flying in the tumble.
My hunting buddy finally got in position to shoot it.
Never had a rattler since or before do anything besides stand it's ground or slither off.
Cotton mouths are a different thing.

I live in East Texas, and no doubt about the Cottonmouths, just damn right mean. I honestly believe their the most aggressive shithead of them all..The hardest hit I ever felt was from a cottonmouth in East Texas , felt like a tree branch whacking my boot.

it was most likely a mojave rattler. they are aggressive and will give chase. they have made it out to the western part of texas now
yes, they do make a vaccine. i kept my border collie up on his boosters for it. it will help them survive a bite. typically, if they get bit on the head, they can live. other places and its tougher. luckily, mine never got bit and he died of old age.
BUT, i saw the biggest rattle i ever saw crawl out of a brush pile about 30 seconds after my dog was sniffing around it. i grabbed him real quick because shot or not, that rattlesnake would have killed him. i was too busy trying to save the dog to kill the snake and he got down in a hole somewhere first.
