I can’t find much of a review Anywhere.

How does it perform? How is the action?

Mine should be here Tuesday in 6.5 PRC. The PH2 is only different in that the stock is slightly different from the PH1. Other than that they are identical. Can’t beat the satisfaction guarantee and I have largely heard good stuff about them.
Isn’t the trigger also different from the ph1?..

in for the comments. Looking at buying either a PH2 or Element. Seems like a good number of PH1s have to go back...

And yes I have been hearing mostly positives about The rifle, please let me know what you think

I was contemplating a custom build until I ran across these rifles.. they are everybit what one is looking for in a hunting rifle. I’m just curious on the accuracy!

I’ve also heard some complaints on the action smoothness..

#1,164 . I could be wrong about "good number of" but when reading up it just seems that I've seem more than a couple comments of rifles being sent back.
That’s never a good thing when rifles go back, but even the best make mistakes. Idk ?

i really do think it’s a solid rifle..there’s only one way to find out..?

The most that I’ve seen go back or have complaints are chambered in 300wm. The majority of others have seemed to do well. Harley was great to deal with the first time mine went back.

It is a bummer it’ll be sitting out the second season in a row. Thankfully I have plenty of backups. :)

I have handled a good number of them. I tend to agree that they feel a tad gritty when new, but the used ones feel nice and smooth. Lube them up and cycle the bolt a bunch and it will smooth right up.

I had a new Havak for a while and it never even left my house before I sold it, but I can agree with this. It was a really gritty rough feeling action out of the box. Like pulling the charging handle on a very cheap brand new AR. I cycled it a couple hundred times with some oil on the bolt and it got really smooth. About like a Tikka. I would't let the feel of a new bolt hold you back from one.

On the long action if your mechanics aren’t sound you’ll have to give the bolt a little wiggle from it slightly binding.

Mine was a short action and it did bind when new but after running the shit out of the bolt and intentionally pushing the bolt to the left/right/up/down while working it, I seemed to have smoothed it out enough that it didn't bind.

are we confusing bind with improper running of a bolt? as in too much lateral pressure at the end of the stroke? similar to people who don't know how to run a Bighorn/ARC and say it binds/is sloppy

No..
It’s not as forgiving as some factory actions though.

Anybody want to write up a review on their PH2? I'm thinking about ordering one in 7mm Rem Mag, would love to hear others experience....

I have a 300 prc PH2 love the rifle. 1/2 MOA with Hornady ELD-X. Only gripe was the looks of it. $350 and seekins cerakoted the barreled action and painted the stock.

Can you post a pic?

Have one in 6mm Creed. Cycled the action a few hundred times to smooth it out, much better.
Hornady 108 grain ELD at .33 MOA. Federal Premium 105 Berger not so good.
Replaced the sling swivel stud with a short picatinny rail and added a six inch McMillan ARCA rail just forward of the magazine.

Mind posting pics of the picatinny rail and ARCA set up?

The only changes from the PH1 to the PH2 are the stock and the trigger. They shifted from the McMillan Game Warden in early PH1 models to their own in house composite for the late PH1’s, and then to a new profile (cheek riser and different forend) for the PH2’s. The PH1’s use Timney 510’s while the Elite Hunter is used in the PH2’s.

My Havak is a PH1, which shipped with a McMillan Game Warden. I’ve replaced the Timney 510 trigger with a Jewel HVR, and would have replaced a PH2 Timney Elite Hunter trigger as well. I run my Jewel at 6oz for PRS matches and hunting both. I added a Victor Company cheek riser and an Area419 Arcalock rail, and have rebarreled with Bartlein Heavy Palma barrels. The factory spiral fluted Rock Creek barrel was dying past ~800 rounds, but I made it to 1471 rounds, limping through the end of the season by adding more and more powder, and confirming/correcting velocity every hundred rounds.

In the complete rifle packages, the Havak is an amazing value. The action only gets valued at about $250 once you take out the stock, trigger, barrel, and bottom metal costs as if you had built it yourself. The bare action cost is a little high, but reflects the price bump having DLC bolt as standard. Integral recoil lug and lugged rail, oversized screws and included 20MOA rail. Drop in shouldered barrel compatible - that should be about $900-1000, and adding DLC bolt gets you to $1200 fair price. Throw a 25-40% Seekins coupon that Glen offers so freely to support precision rifle matches and you’re getting a hell of a lot of action for $720-800. It’s not as smooth as a high polish, DLC Defiance, but it’s smooth. Clean it once you get it home and kick on a bit of lube, it’ll run. AW cut, and runs like a top out of them. A little tweaking required to get mine to clear the lips of AICS/ARC/Accurate centerfeed mags.

I love mine, and for the money, I’ve been exceptionally happy with it. I’m about 4000 rounds into mine, two barrels.

I've been spending a lot of time lately looking as custom rifles and actions and mostly finding reasons not to put in an order for a PH2. I can certainly buy less gun for more money. I think I would prefer the Timney HIT to Elite Hunter...but, otherwise...like the stock, love the weight, love that you get a 24" tube that isn't pencil thin for the weight, and on it goes. About the only thing I'd want to do is tape/rattle can the stainless and call it good ;-).

If not a Havak, I'd probably just say "to heck with it" and grab a MRC 1999 action and figure out what to do with it later.

100% correct- plus if you add a 25-40% off coupon that Glen gives out all the time, now you’re talking about a steal of a deal. I got a coupon- I’m ordering one tonight. Done and Done :)

Pretty easy to change the trigger. I dropped in a Jewel HVR I had in a drawer from an old specialty pistol I’d sold, and sold the 510 which came with my PH1 for $100. Figure a new Jewel is $200, so a $100 upgrade there didn’t make me sad.

The Seekins custom shop can cerakote the barreled action for you before shipping. Little more durable than a rattle can job.

I ordered one in 7mm Rem Mag a couple weeks ago, having the Seekins custom shop cerakote it. Can't wait to get it, still a few weeks out.

Ordered a PH2 in 300 win on Saturday. Added the muzzle break and bottom bipod mount. 25% off coupon was just what I needed :) now the wait begins!

Shaff777 who does a guy talk to so I can get a coupon as well?

I just got my PH2 in 300 PRC back from being Cerakoted. As you can see in the pics I had the bolt Cerakoted and it was pretty sticky, but after cycling a couple hundred times it’s has smoothed out nicely. Is it As smooth as an Impact or Surgeon action, no, but for the price point it’s just fine. The trigger breaks crisp and clean and I really like the palm swell their new stock offers. The only complaint so far is I’m running an MK5 3-18 with low ARC rings and I had to add a Triad stock pack to get a proper cheek weld and sometimes the bolt would not pick up the third round in the mag. The bedding job is pretty impressive as well as having a lug built in and over size screws on the top pic rail. I have just begun load work and have just ran 20 rounds of mild handloads to just settle the bore. The last 3 shots were a 3/8” group before those it shot consistently at 1/2”, so pretty pleased with accuracy so far. Next I’m running a 30 round pressure test then start load development from there. I’ll report back once I dial it in.
So far I am impressed with the PH2 and find it a great buy for an all around hunting rifle.

I have been reading the different forums and keep seeing people talk about the coupons. Do you have to be registered as a PRS comp shooter to get them?

I just bought my coupons on the Snipershide classified forum, I'm not a PRS comp shooter. Take a look over there and see what is available.
