Browning X Bolt (HC) Scope Mount/Rail Setup Question

Hi all!

I just purchased the Browning X Bolt Hell's Canyon in .308 and would like to match it with a 20 MOA picatinny rail, Burris or Vortex precision matched rings, and a Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16x44 scope. Ill be using it mostly for whitetail, coyote's, and target shooting.

I do understand that everyone's cheek weld/preference may be different, but as a general question: Will the picatinny rail cause my scope to sit too high on my gun not allowing a proper firm cheek weld? Or am I overthinking it. I've heard a lot of people talk about the rail/mounts causing the scope (30mm tube) to sit too high on this gun and people making/buying DIY stock cheek riser plates. I don't mind a bit of an adjustment, but am hoping someone can shed some light on the situation. (I would rather not have to add a aftermarket cheek plate on my new rifle)

Also, I don't know if the 0 MOA and 20 MOA have and height difference in the rear, but would getting the 0 MOA help the height at all?

Thanks

My dad currently has medium rings on a 20 MOA base with his 34mm scope on his X-Bolt Targert Eclipse. We are going to switch them out for Low rings to see if that helps as it is to high.

On his other X-Bolt we went with warne bases and medium rings with a 4-24x VX-6, the scope barely clears the barrel and only because of the contour.

Another alternative is to try something like a triad tactical stock pack which would allow you to utilize cheek risers to raise the comb and keep a spare mag or small tools/notes.

Thanks CMP! Do you know if it was that big of an issue for him? I'll try and get a lower profile ring to compensate for the height. Or maybe I'll just go with a regular ring/base style mount. I just love the look of the rail, and the benefit's that come along with.

Much appreciated!
Jeff

I am out of adjustment with my xbolt eclipse for 1,000, other than the height off the comb was this ample for elevation? Also what base did you go with?

Thanks in advance!

I went with the EGW base and ARC M10 rings and he has since taken the rifle to 1000 several times with his Revic. The height was only awkward while shooting prone and we ended up fixing that with a McMillian stock on their Black Friday sale a couple years ago.

Awesome thanks again!
