So if it is aeroslborne would it pass through the mask or around the mask? I have read it can last up to three hours in the air.
I have no problem with folks wearing a mask. I do have a problem when government orders people to wear one.

at that time the disease control docs go through information and choose what strains and mutations of the"flu"should be most common this coming season
the shot/vaccine is usually created targeting 3-4 different strains...its impossible to make a vaccine for 100 strains etc.
if the docs guess wrong the flu shot is not very effective (efficacy), for the last 15 years or so they have been pretty accurate targeting strains.
yet, even if they choose incorrectly the administration of a flu shot has shown to have cross effectiveness which can reduce symptoms.
again even if the doc choose correct there can be antigenic drift (mutation) possibly making the vaccine less effective, cross effectiveness may still occur.
as for masks, of course the closer to N95 the more filtration is had
