Has anyone tried either of these? Seems to me like they are intended to be a similar load (same bullet and MV). Curious why the Berger load is almost 2x the price though.

lapua brass > federal brass

also fuck midway and their price gouging. awful site.

Thank you, I'd missed that. What specifically makes Lapua better, more consistent weight and case volumes?

No comment on Midway, that was just the most convenient place to show the price difference. I noticed a lot of the other retailers selling the Federal version seemed to have incorrect info in their listing for the same Part # GM300NMBH1, either showing it as 300 Winchester or a "Hybrid Hunter" bullet (vs the Hybrid Target I believe it's actually loaded with).

I ran the berger 215 and 230 ammo through my Norma improves to fire form brass and speed the barrel up. I was getting velocities in the 29xxfps range with both loads and single digit SD’s. In my specific rifle I was comfortable hunting at 600 yards with either. I don’t have any experience with the federal ammo but a buddy is running the 215 berger ammo in his standard Norma as well with outstanding results. In my improved version Ryan Pierce ran 28 loads over a few pieces of brass and gave up. Essentially “indestructible”. The consistency, strength, and also resale value of the Lapua brass can’t be matched. From my experiences those points along with quality and consistency of the berger ammo puts that as the first factory ammo I’d be buying for my rifle. You are running a Norma not a .22, feed it with quality ammo. In the end though I would try both and see what one performs best in your specific setup!

I did just order some of this Gold Medal because at $2.00 per round I can live with it. I still prefer to hand load but federal GMM has always done well for me. So I measured 5 and they avg 3.537 COAL. That is short compared to where I seat the same bullet with my hand loads. I will run these this weekend and report back.

Summary: Norma brass, Berger bullet... 2 bucks a round. Results TBD. Coming soon.

Ha! i bought a box just to look at while I save up to build a 300 Norma.

I run 84.5 of h1000 under a 215 Berger and it was crazy accurate no load development it shot too good to mess with!

They are pretty stout too. At least 125 FPS faster than my 84grn of N570 with the same bullet but Peterson brass. Here is the info from the 5 I shot this weekend. I did put all 5 on the plate at 528. I know that isn’t shooting for groups but it’s how I measure

This is FGMM Berger 215 factory ammo out of AI ASR with a 27 inch Bart.
