M-LOK Accessories Interfere With Removal Of Barrel On LMT MWS

I built up a complete LMT MWS M-LOK upper and decided to pull the barrel to change the flash hider. Much to my surprise I could not remove the barrel. Upon closer examination I discovered the M-LOK handguard covers and M-LOK bipod rail were preventing the barrel from being removed. The rear of the barrel was too large to clear the M-LOK accessories.

Just something to consider if you decide to go with a M-LOK upper on the LMT MWS.

all of them together or are you not able to remove with any of them attached? Some screws stick out past the metal insert "nut". Maybe you could grind the screws down?

There are 15 individual Magpul rail covers and any one by itself or in combination will prevent the removal of the barrel. I just spoke with a LMT tech and he stated it is a known issue. My LMT SLK upper does not have this issue. Below is a photo of my SLK issue.

I personally don’t see this as a problem and prefer the ergonomics of the small diameter of the fore-end while knowingly compromising on the fact that I’ll have to remove my rail covers and pic rail adapter for the bipod when I change barrels.

Has there been any solution to this found by others? I tried 1/4" long mlok bolts and found it's not the bolt that is hitting the MWS sleeve but the actual mlok nut, I've been pondering grinding down the nut to about half size and see if I can get clearance while still maintaining rigidity of the connection.
