Anyone know any ranges out here to long range shoot or anyone know anyone who will rent some property out for a few hours? Would be interested in meeting up with some guys to shoot steel (I have 4 large echo targets). Former SS in the corps I can spot for you and get you a next round impact lol

Nope, not a member. Just a place a group of us used to meet up at one a year.

Reveille Peak Ranch's range is only a hour outside of Austin. Its ELR goes out to a full mile, I believe. Have not yet gone, but intend to do so sometime. Open to the public; just need to qualify for 1000 yds+.

They offer veteran discounts that are pretty sweet.

Im gonna give this place a try. Its only 52 minutes from my spot in Leander. Thanks for the info!

The place is great. Has the standard range which has steel out to 584 yards. There is a new covered area which helps in the summer. The Long range has steel at 730 and 1008 yards. That is a short drive up into the hills. The Extended Long Range does go out to a mile but is only open thurs. All other parts are open Thurs-Sun.

This place is well run and has lots of other bays to shoot pistol and carbine.

One other thing to note is if you have a family it is good for new shooters/little ones as it is mellow and they are very accomodating. Veteran discount for a family year membership is only $700 which is solid for what you get.

NIce! Yeah im def going to give this place a try next month. Need to get some dopes for the new build. This is exactly what I was looking for

They are having a 2 day prs match this weekend, with safety briefing on Friday. Might be late to get signed in but could be cool to go spectate. I

Im in upstate NY till Monday but id be interested in trying something like that in the future. How do those type of events work? Is it UKD or KD or a combo of the two? I always see pics and stuff on instagram of shooters at those types of events.

I haven’t shot that one, but I’m fairly positive it’s known distance but they are suppose to be more field match oriented at that range. I wouldn’t expect encountering ukd targets at a prs match, but more so at a field match.

So basically a KD range shooting steel and alternating different positions? Sorry I dont know much about civilian comps. My only long range shooting experience was in the Marines but id imagine it would be similar. Also what's a "field match"?

Yep just altering stages where they give you instructions on which targets to engage from each position with a time/round count. Say “field match” more along the lines of they give you the targets description and maybe yardage, you don’t get to glass before the stage, everything is done on the clock.

RPR is the best. They have an ELR range that goes out to 1705 yards that’s open every Thursday. The nicest people run it. It’s the best range in the Austin area by far.
