I've been a happy owner of an Athlon Ares BTR 4.5x27 scope for a while now. Got a great deal on it, does what it should for the price point, blah blah blah. Sits on top a PRS setup rig in 65CM.

Was looking at the Midas line from Athlon for another rifle I'm putting together and noticed they cap the windage turret on this scope, but leave the others open. Essentially any windage calls would be held, never dialed. I'm not opposed to that as I more often than not hold wind versus dialing in for example a PRS type setting.

Curious from those who have this setup on any input as far as other pros or cons to the setup I'm not thinking of.

I have the 5-25 TAC and the capped windage doesn't bother me. Although I've only shot it in one NRL22 match with it I plan to leave it on the gun for matches. If I feel that I must dial on a stage. I will take the cap off and run the stage.

No reason you can't just take the cap off and run it like that. Everyone has their preference but I like running capped windage because I never adjust windage. I hold all wind in the reticle since wind is constantly changing and setting it to a fixed value doesn't make sense to me.

I gotcha. And agree. I don't often dial wind in matches. I've just never run a capped windage in a PRS/NRL type shooting scenario. Hunting, etc. Yes. Always.

Just working through the brain if I do go that route and get down the road and think back 'fck, I didn't think about this situation.....'
