Atlas Bipod Cleaning

So I bought a used Atlas off someone and while it is in great condition it doesnt feel a "smooth" as others. I was thinking of just spraying it down with Lucas CLP and working all the moving parts then wiping it down. Anyone have any thoughts on this and if there will be any issues?

I'd take it apart and clean the inside of the legs. Shouldn't be a challenge for some brake cleaner, but that may take the finish off, I'm not sure.
