.22 optic for competition

Most of what I have read says most 22 comps are 50yds. What magnification is preferred for this? I'm rehabbing my childhood Anschutz so my son will be able to shoot it. Looking forward to having 2 generations compete with the same rifle.

I'd recommend a fine crosshair 24x or better adjustable objective lens.

The Weaver T-24 or T-36 scopes are good examples.

I don't know you, so I'll take you at your word. 24x for 50 yds is not what I would have guessed.

For benchrest use at 50 yards the T-24 and T-36 will allow splitting the 0.10 inch center target dot.

Did y'er Annie have peep sights?

Still does. When I discovered the gun & case after 45 yrs it still has the leather prone shooting strap, leather glove and front sight inserts that I used as a kid.

Start there. See how they do with the original sights.
If you decide to go for a scope, check with y'er local competitors.
