ALERT FOR TEXAS: (D) HB-196 seeks to remove Castle Doctrine and criminalize homeowners who use firearms against home invaders.

  • Introduced on November 9, 2020 by State Representative Terry Meza (D) - District 105, House Bill 196 seeks to remove Castle Doctrine and make it ILLEGAL for homeowners to use a firearm to stop a person in the process of breaking into their homes. The vaguely worded bill suggests that you can "still defend yourself against a burglar", but the use of firearms and lethal force would only be permitted if the homeowner is unable to effectively retreat, thus this bill seeks to turn Texas into a "duty to retreat" state. HB-196 is just one of many bills filed by Meza that would also greatly limit the amount of resources law enforcement can deploy to subdue violent subjects in the act of committing a crime, making certain legal firearm transfers illegal, invoking Red Flag laws, and cutting down on the number of public places where people can conceal carry handguns. The page below will show a package of relatively sneaky antigun bills all filed under Meza that will be heading to the Texas House of Representatives for further action.

Out of all the states my impression of Texas has always been like the old west guns and cowboys . So when did it change to no guns and democrats ?

it is sickening seeing our 'leaders' going out of their way to protect and coddle criminals. and prosecute those protecting their property and livelihoods.

have to wonder if this new law would prevent home owners from using more bats and steak knives on those same robbers who could now unleash a far more brutal beating to protect there homes and loved ones or maybe a hammer to the knee cap and or broken fingers or all of the above cause if i am going to jail any way I would really rather have it be memorable than for just nothing .

Since Hydra (aka the democratic left) were corrupted by Great Reset money. A lot of that probably comes out of Austin, now that numerous Silicon Valley type tech companies invaded.

    It hasn't, yet.

But they're trying. Dumbfucks like Rick 'Oops' Perry (R) going to California and offering big-tech companies with tax break packages to relocate to Texas is the reason.

Gaslighting. I wasn’t aware thats what it was called until recently but it’s something i have been aware of since i was young. It flat out works, ESPECIALLY in the tech “savvy “ crowds.

Back in the 70's a pair of home invaders hit a home a few blocks from where I lived on a Sunday afternoon.
A buddy and co worker, we were both backhoe operators that worked for the same construction company, was in his front yard working on his truck and witnessed them drive up *sounds like a Massad Ayoob story* in a strange white truck and run in the front door of a neighbors home across the street with ski masks on and revolvers drawn.

My buddy reached into his truck cab and pulled his 30-30 Win. out of the gun rack and waited. The two robbers backed out of the neighbors front door and one cranked off a shot at the house as they ran and jumped into their truck and tore off.
My buddy, at a measured 80 yards, shot the driver in the back of the head with a 170 gr. Core-Lokt and with a second shot blew out the trucks rear tire. The passenger opened the driver's door and pushed canoe head out and took off on three tires. They found the truck abandoned a few blocks away. That set off a manhunt with Travis Co. Sheriffs on horseback and helo in the air and me sitting on my front porch with my Fudd deer rifle.

Anyway, they caught the second guy trying to hitchhike down the road a couple days later. My buddy was a hero until the local DA, Ronnie Earl (D) tried to press charges, saying Vigilante Justice wasn't going to fly. My buddy backed a backhoe off a bluff a few days later which landed on a new Chev. pickup in a driveway below, crushing it, breaking his back and he also landed on a fire ant bed. He was such a pitiful fucker laying up in a hospital in traction and a metal rod in his back, DA Ronnie Earl didn't pursue the charges.

But the moral of the story, Texas and even Austin back then, was fine with what happened to the home invader. The dead guy came from a family of PITA bad guys from way back; burglars, one was a safe cracker, car thieves, etc. and the general opinion was "He was just a Brooks."

One of the most badass things I've read on this board... I hope your friend made a full recovery and is continuing to live, work, shoot, hunt, and enjoy life. I was grinning when I read the first part of your post, and then the shit in the second part just turned even the dinner I am eating bland and loathsome. FUCK Democrat DAs and legislators. There is not one fucking thing that they do not turn to shit just by touching... That is why I have sworn NEVER to come to a leftist/liberal's aid even if their fucking lives depended on it.

Hogs need to eat too... Me and my buddies have decreased the pace at which we'd been shooting 'em and not just because the Wuhan Flu has put a bigger strain on our jobs and livelihoods and we had been staying in our respective AOs more, to work and constantly be around our families. When this Great Reset shit comes here, we are gonna need them hogs to do A LOT of cleaning up...

Please tell Mr. Sanford for me that he is a true TEXAN and AMERICAN, that if that POS DA had pursued these charges and I'd been a grand juror in that courtroom, I'd tell ANYONE who voted 'aye' on these charges that I hope they or their spouses will miscarry every time they try to conceive. The "high road" be damned with motherfuckers who would vote to fuck up a stranger's life for no reason.

Sanford was the typical laid back, Lone Star beer drinking longhair redneck that rural environs produced in that era. He looked like an Allman brother. But his quiet demeanor had a 'fuck around and find out' undertone. After he got out of the hospital we were loading dumptrucks with excavated material and a dump driver didn't like the way he was loading his truck.

I was the job foreman so the driver, a big burly loudmouth guy in overalls, came over and complained, "I'm about to yank that longhaired hippy off that backhoe if he keeps blah, blah, beat the shit out of him blah, blah, blah..."

I nodded and listened to him rant and then asked him "You remember that dirtbag that got his head blown off recently out here?" The driver said "Yea-h-h? I even commented on what a good shot that guy made."
I said "That long haired hippy is the one that did it. Just food for thought when you go to yanking him off of there by his hair."
The driver's eyes got big and he said "Your kidding!" He went back to his truck with a different attitude.

I bet he would not have had that accident in the first place if that goddamned anti-American DA had not fucked with his head with those pending charges. I am glad he recovered and got right back on the job doing what he loves to do.

Wait, isnt this the same state where its totally ok to shoot someone committing a crime at night?

Evil Democrats never stop trying to destroy all that is good, even in places where you think you are totally safe from their vileness, they are still there trying all the time without rest to destroy you.

Miss those days. Single cab pickup with a three row gun rack
Hotshot, axe handle and a rifle

Didn't the bill say firearms? I recall a video from Brazil or somewhere where 'firearms' are illegal so they took a paintball gun and loaded it with hard ammo (marbles, or bearings can't remember) and it did some damage. It was years ago that I saw it so I may be wrong on the location.

Just some food for thought. I know it is fun to bag on "Californication" of another state. However, Terry Meza was born in Iving Texas...

they analyzed the race of robert orourke and Teddy Cruz and found that transplant Texans voted Republican. The native Texans are the ones voting more blue. Just like this guy.

    Your right
Lived in north Texas since the 1950’s. Unfortunately, Texas metro areas are growing exponentially in population while rural ares are not. Denton and Collin counties used to be predominantly rural and Republican. Now the gap is closing due to urban sprawl. It’s now simply rural vs urban and rural numbers aren’t good.

That bill will go nowhere. In spite of the Liberal maggot infestation in our Capital, our legislature and Governor are still Republican.
We have a lot of Liberals here, but overall there are plenty of us who are working and paying our own way, thus, there is no real need to vote for Democrats.

I’m personally embarrassed he’s an Aggie. He showed his colors early on as Texas Commissioner of Agriculture when he sold out to business interest over imminent domain.
I was offered a spot on one of the Texas commissions when Perry was governor. I asked if I was free to vote in the best interest of Texans involved in that business the commission oversaw. “You are appointed by the governor and will vote as he wishes”
    Needless to say I declined.

The guy wasn't that bright but he was cunning in a wheeler dealer sort of way. I know first hand through a real estate broker a deal he pulled to help Michael Dell put together his 80+ acre hill top compound west of Austin. In fact, so slick I'd have to ask the broker again how it went. It took a real tricky dick to even think that way.

Just how many Californians have moved into Texas???? My goodness, what a stupid bill.

It's not just Californians. We have people from NJ and NY coming to the state and they are bringing their liberal beliefs. I see that because of their bumper stickers. That said I did a google search and it said "86,164 California residents moved to Texas in 2018"

Worth a minute if you live in Texas

    pretty much happens every year.

just like some dumbass Congress Dem introduces some Total Gun Ban bill in Congress every single session. doesnt mean its going anywhere. doesnt mean it has any support.
