We are working on loading a bunch of 1x fired LC 556 ammo. Everything has been cleaned and we are working on load development. The plan is not to trim anything since it's just plinking ammo, so we are just running through the sizing die. We seem to be getting good neck tension of 0.0025-0.003 but the issue we are seeing is that the neck ID is sharp.

When seating bullets the cases scrape a thin layer of copper off the bullet. How do you handle this with a progressive?

Are you loading flat base bullets? boat tail bullets will do this less. Both will scrape some copper if the neck ID is sharp. I load these in two steps (a brass prep head, and a separate loading head). And I run a deburr tool in the necks in between.

No, they are 55gr Hornady SP which have a BT.

What kind of deburring tool? I assume that means you have to do each case individually or is there a way to mount on the press? We have about 12k pieces of brass to load. That's a ton of manual deburring.

Yes, I manually debur. Have used a machine, but the results were not as consistent.

Make you a deal.... I'd debur and load those up for you on my dillon for 12k primers....
