Any of y'all running savage MTU contour barrels? How do you like it, and how much do they weigh on average? Can't find a ton of info.

I have a savage I'm thinking about rebarreling to a low cost plinker/trainer.

    Barrel nut MTU?
On a barrel nut Barrel a lot of weight is lost compared to the same profile shouldered especially on an MTU type profile.
My 28” heavy Palma is 5.5 pounds or so so I I’d imagine it would be a touch more.

On 223 I don’t feel such a heavy barrel is a plus in most situations.

I actually like a heavy rifle(bolt gun) I'm not out packing them around so weight isn't an issue, also I'm giant.

I'm trying to talk a buddy out of one he isn't using.

Im running one on my origin dasher and this seems pretty spot on but its been a couple years. With my acc chassis and no weights I can slide the bipod to directly in front of the magwell and it can damn near balance it perfectly on the bipod legs alone so its the perfect weight for my situation.

If I can remember in two months when I pull it Ill weight it for you lol

I've got a 30 in savage F class takeoff barrel I bought from an F Class shooter. He put about 50 rounds though it before putting a new barrel on it. It shot as good as his aftermarket barrel. At a 100 it puts black hills 77 SMK's into one hole and on a no wind or light wind day it probably shoots just as tight as my custom 6.5 CM out to 600.
