I was at my buddy's house working up some 22-250 loads, and the 80gr Sierra bthp he had would seat past the ogive when we pressed em in to get the COL to fit in his box mag. What kind of issues could this cause, and does anyone have a better heavy bullet selection with a shorter nose

You may want to browse JBM and look at bullet lengths there. The Matchkings are a tangent ogive, and will have some of the shorter fronts available. You may have to drop down to a 75 hornady or 77 scenar/matchking/berger to get the length down.

Out of curiosity, what twist are you running? I rarely see people push more than 60gn out of a 22-250.

1/8 twist. I think 1/7 would be better with the super heavy bullets. Might not stabilize, but friend just wanted to try em out. I figured 80 is too much as load data only went up to 70gr. I want to try the 77gr SMKs
