I've had detents and springs left over but never a barrel. Have you looked down into the handguard to make sure you put a barrel on the upper? One time I did try to install two Giessele high speed national match triggers on my ar build to try to duplicate the double set triggers on my Steyr-Mannlicher but after a hour of frustration I called Giessele and they told me that it could not be done. 600 bucks worth of triggers down the drain!

I ended up just jamming some rebar into the barrel nut and spray painting it with a shiny stainless steel finish to have a tacticool look. This new build will have two barrels for shooting around corners.

Build a inexpensive blaster truck gun.... why not ?

Do easy tuning tricks on the upper ... lap the receiver face true, shim / Loctite the barrel in.

Install a Aero .750 Adj. Gb on the barrel.

I have quite a few GTG DC Machine / PSA SS 308 barrels that have been shooters. ( I wish they would bring back the Nitrated 308 barrels )
