I realize that chamber work is required, however, want to use the same barrel since bullet diameter is the sameDifferent bolt face diameter.
Barrel needs setback.
30 cal barrel can be rechambered but why.

US-17 Remington 30-06 Imp. Brand new barrel, do not want to change it.I've open up a couple of 1093 Springfields to .300 WM, it was common practice when the .300 was new. The bolt is hard as hell, you have to run it fast and use carbide. The extractor requires a little hand fitting. What make and model is the rifle?
I meant "1903 Springfield " the enfield rifle is similar, it can be done. The trick is to nail headspace right on the nose or you have to set the barrel back a full revolution and recut the cone breech and extractor slot. A lathe man should be able to do it.US-17 Remington 30-06 Imp. Brand new barrel, do not want to change it.
Yes I understand the work that has to be done when rechambering, I was trying to reaffirm those thoughts with other eyes on the project. I appreciate your input. Be safe mate. And no I do not own a 1903 Springfield.I meant "1903 Springfield " the enfield rifle is similar, it can be done.
