Steiner

Steniner’s Tactical line is overall more comparable to Leupold’s Mk 6 scopes while their Military optics are similar in overall quality to Schmidt Bender. I had one of each and glass was solid on both, the Military scope was markedly more refined than the Tactical variant (and should be given the price difference).

Their P series is in the middle of the T and M series; they are decent scopes. My buddy had one on his 308 which I’ve shot a bunch of times. The Leupold Mark 5 is a good comparable.

Any issues with tracking accuracy in the tactical line? For my purposes I can’t justify the added coin to jump to the military line but would give up that glass upgrade if function failure wasn’t a concern.

For the time I had it, I didn’t notice any issues with tracking. Wasn’t crazy about the Tactical’s turret and mag ring feel but it functioned fine.

Sold both my Steiners to buy Schmidt Benders. That’s not a knock on Steiner but more of a personal preference for SB. Had three other precision rifles at the time with SB and wanted all SB scopes.

I have three pairs of Steiner binos and love all three of them.

Yeah I’m not crazy about the turret design on the tactical seems a bit gimmicky but appreciate the info

You’re welcome. One thing id consider is quality of customer service in the event you need it.

All scopes, regardless of make, model or acquisition cost can fail. One reason I went all Schmidt is their excellent customer service. I can pick up the phone, call their service center in Winchester, VA and know I’m taking to someone that knows what their doing and will handle my issue correctly and promptly if I have one.

Not sure about Steiner’s customer service as I never had to use it. Never had to use SB’s either (at least not for scope issues) but have dealt with them on things like reticle swaps and such.

Yeah that’s a good call it would probably be worth a phone call to see what kind of impression they give me before I buy a product. I know vortex gets a lot of heat especially in their lower end line but I will say their warranty is so easy to deal with just replaced a cheap pst I had on a coyote gun and it was bout as easy as you could ask for.
