From VA, solid 2A supporter. Lurked for quite a while before signing up. Just a recreational shooter but want to get into precision shooting in the future (when things calm down a bit).
Welcome from NoVA!
Where in VA are you?
And another welcome from Maryland...actually the Socialist County of Montgomery so not too far away from you in NoVa.
Same area!
Hit me up when you're ready to do some long range and I'll invite you out to Quantico. I'm on the Board and have been shooting out there for a few years. I'm always trying to get the word out that we're here and that we've worked hard to raise the professionalism of the club (no more clown show) and offer more activities for members.
While it's known distance, square range, we shoot precision / long range every weekend; 300/600 Saturday and 1,000 on Sunday on Range 4. The ranges are down for lead remediation right now, but will open again on the 9th of Jan. It looks like R4 will be down a month longer to fix a water runoff issue, but we will be able to shoot to 600y in just a few weeks.
To anyone else interested, Quantico Shooting Club also holds USPSA and Steel Challenge matches monthly on the base (we're not COVID restricted and have been open and shooting since May). We've also run NROI classes and have shot two classifiers recently. We're winding down for the holidays, but will be back with our January matches staring on the 9th with a USPSA over 2-days and Steel Challenge on the 17th.
We've made significant investments in infrastructure, steel, etc., to add to the professionalism of the events and raise the quality of the matches for the shooters. You also do not have to be a member to shoot a match.
Right now we're test driving PRS (to get out the kinks) and will be starting PRS matches in February.
We have asked Frank and Mark to try and get us on the 2021 calendar for a long range precision course.
