I'm looking for opinions in regard to travel on the 21st. My son was planning driving down to Baltimore and flying from BWI to Atlanta to look at a college. He's more than a bit apprehensive with all the crap that could be going down. Should he air to caution and postpone the trip just to be on the safe side? My opinion would be to always err to caution but I'm a Dad and maybe over reacting.
Other opinions would be greatly appreciated.

he should be fine airport and a drive on the beltway if he can survive that he is golden good luck and a safe trip . Id personally keep out of dc the smell of smug is just in the air .

If he's not comfortable flying down there, don't let him do it. It's only a 10 hour drive from Baltimore to Atlanta. Take a couple days off and drive down there with him. It'll be a great time with your son.

I would take this option too, if you can swing it. You won't get many more chances to spend time with him and this is the perfect reason to make that kind of drive. Make it fun for you two guys and drive it. Between the 2 of you, it won't be that bad.

I would encourage him to make the trip.... Our world is changing, he must change with it. In the Chiropractic arena, he is going to need to know how to deal with people from many walks of life. Travel is an excellent way to learn about people.

He's on his way. He wanted to make the trip himself rather than having a helicopter Dad along. They got to leave the nest sometime so this is good experience for him making all the travel arrangements, dealing with airport parking, not to mention airport security etc.
He's a good young man, with good values. His mother and I did our best to prepare him for this unsettled world.
That doesn't mean we aren't worried, that's why we both have gray hair.

in your first post you said "down"... perhaps you are in Pennsylvania... many Delta flights out of Harrisburg direct to Atlanta every day... for future reference, it would be a good alternative to BWI or Dulles

It's only natural to worry. I've got 4 kids, 35, 31, 29 and 25 year old and the wife and I worry often about them. God
Bless my mother, we were paying some of her monthly bills and each month she would always say that she was worried that we were taking food off the table to pay her bills. Parents always worry.
