I’ve been running a bighorn TL3 in an MPA action for a few years. I’ve always had an issue with feeding issues if there is any forward pressure on the magazine when running the bolt. I’ve recently starting shooting rimfire with a Bergara b14r in the same chassis. It’s even worse with that action. I have tried to train around this issue but if I even slide the rifle forward to its balance point and the bag contacts the magazine I have a failure to feed. I’m willing to change chassis or stocks if that will help. What do you guys run/like? Do you have this issue with your rigs? Thinking about an MDT ACC as it’s a similar build but the front of the mag well is more of a barricade stop.

I had similar issues with the KRG Whiskey 3.

Instead of actually fixing the problem I switched to an MDT ACC.

I never had any issues with the ACC, but I won't say that it hasn't happened on someone else's rifle.

It almost seems like there's too much play in the mag well allowing the mag to pivot on the mag release.

I found a little piece that MPA sells called the “mag block insert”. Ordered 2 sets of them. Seems to be their solution to a known problem. Hoping this is actually this easy to correct.

Yeah that's what I was talking about. It limits the vertical travel of the mag. It works pretty well and it might fix your issue.

I put one in to test fit and see if it was the right one (they send 2), and it helped a lot with vertical mag travel. I don't know if the other one would have been better or worse because I couldn't get the first one out. I may could have but might have destroyed it in doing so. They say to use some glue or something when installing the one you want to make permanent but of course I didn't. Between the side adjustments and that mag block thing the mag got pretty snug with minimal movement.

There is a second video on MPa’s website, the different blocks coordinate with changes in their machining process. Earlier versions fit one and later versions fit another per their website.

ARC made this a non issue for me with the Xylo, the mag catch is build to prevent the magazine from rotating if you put a load against it.
I know loading into the mag hard is a bad idea, I just want to be able to slide forward on a bag until the mag well stops and then drop into my scope.

This is pitiful. If a chassis company can’t make a frame/mag combo that doesn’t require blocks and videos and bandaids it’s pathetic. Especially for what they charge. That being said, I’m not fluent in these issues so it’s maybe more complicated than I perceive but from the surface just seems crazy in a “precision” world.

I have to admit that I felt the same way. I love the MPA chassis but it is kind of pathetic that I have to buy a freaking plastic block to get the mag to fit correctly on a $1200 chassis. I've only had one so I'm not sure if it's all of em or just some or depends on the mags or what.

It’s really not so much the chassis fault as it is the mag cut on the action itself. You would not have this issue with an Impact action in the MPA even if you rested the full weight of the gun on the magazine.

Its pitifull that they have to make something that will function with dozens of different action, mag combinations on the market?

They have to account for variance and different products based on capatibility.

If you have a better solution, let us know.

These are not custom build guns. Want system that is flawless, go to LRI or one of the smiths that will blend and ensure everything works together, but dont cry when it costs you $5k.

Putting pressure on just about ANY magazine in any firearm changes the geometry an can cause issues.

There are cheap solutions to this on the market. How much fucking money do you think people spend on this sport? $1200 chassis and probally 10k+ in other gear but your gona bitch about a $20 part? No one cares that is actually shooting.

Again, Start naming the different actions and Magazines than can be used in YOUR specific chassis.

Make a list of each. Then make a list of every possible combination.

The chassis needs to work with every single one of them. Its all a compromise.

This shit is obvious, shouldn't have to be explained.

As I stated, I’m not an expert in this matter although you always seem to know everything about everything on here.
I do know a Savage APO takes a cheap Magpul mag and doesn’t care what’s pushing on it because it doesn’t move. Savage continues to use a sub par detent ball and have issues with their extractors. That’s pitiful too.
I also know my Christiansen takes an Accurate mag and has zero feed issues with pressure.
I changed the bottom metal on a Wby to PGT with Accurate mags and they’re not affected by resting/moving around on a bag. 5 and 10 round mags.
Seems these companies could work together to sort it out. As I said before, I’m sure it’s easier said than done so no need to come quoting posts and acting personally offended 🤣

Wow, this got a lot more heated than I expected. I wasn’t posting to take a stab at MPA or any other chassis company. I have ran this BA comp for 4 years and it feels like home to me. I have spoken to Phil and the crew down at MPA about various upgrades and issues over the years, and that have truly been awesome. You guys are right, most of these rifle have quirks that have to be massaged a little bit or trained around. I have no problem sending off for a $10 part to solve my issue with my current set up.
