Sup guys, just wondering if I can get help with what cartridge could be an option for me in my axmc that meets my criteria.
- uses the 300 win mag bolt
- uses 300 win mag magazine without issue or modification
- has more recoil than the 300 win mag
- better long range ballistics than 300 win mag

I know 300 prc is a cartridge that has been brought to my attention that meets my criteria, so is there anything else? I figure there must be something that you experienced shooters can recommended? Thanks

I’m curious as to why one of your criteria is more recoil?

But... 300 prc is probably the easiest option. If you reload, 338 edge and 7 saum should be in the conversation as well

Running 300 PRC in my AXMC with very good results.

If you wanted a bit more than that you could go with one of the 300 sherman variants.

A fast twist 7 PRC (or sherman variant thereof) running monolithics would be interesting as well.

Being new to the hobby I want to experience as much different cartridges as possible. I have the 6.5’s 308, 260, and 300 wm. Now I want something a little bigger and better before going to the 338

Is the prc running fine in the 300 wm ax mag?

If you have a 300 WM then just skip ahead to a 338.
You can single feed 338 edge and it has more capacity than 338 lapua and it has a .532 bolt face.

If you're going to go 338 at some point, why not get a magnum bolt 338 Norma / 300 Norma barrels. 300 or 7 PRC would be great too

Because I want something in between aswell, I want something that will replace the 300 win mag that is in the same league (slightly better) when my 300WM barrel burns out. And plus I’m in Canada and after spending a small fortune recently (everything is more expensive here)on rifles and scopes, and the fact I’ve been waiting almost 1 year for my 308 axmc bolt to arrive , I don’t feel like ordering the 338 bolt right now, so that is why I want something to replace the 300 WM where I just need to get a barrel spun up.

Throw a 7 on it. 28 nosler with 190's or 195's is going to be hard to beat, ballistically.

And i'll second the 7 SAUM. That's the main barrel i run on my AX. 190's at 2875 or so, throated out long and ugly, runs great out of the 300WM mags and is a blast to shoot.

I’m running 190 at that aoeed in my 7 saum and agree it’s a lot of performance for it’s size.

Have you used 338 EDGE before in the axmc?

Nope. My recommendations come from reading a lot about long range shooting and cartridges over the last several years
