Not sure where to post this but this person sent me a pm to sell me a spuhr mount. He sent me a photoshopped picture of the mount and his screen name and date.

How can you tell this is photoshopped?

I'm not all that familiar with that mount, but if you look at where the rings would go together on the front, then look at the back on top. The screw holes are jacked up. Not sure if the "A 0041" and the "A0040" difference on each side is an issue or not.

Lot of moire around the post-it note as well. Do have to admit these scammers have really upped their game.

The table it's sitting on looks jacked up too. Like 2 different but similar table tops and it's fuzzy. Sure signs of photo shop work.

That part isn't photoshopped. That's just how the mount looks.

    • Lighting on the paper is wrong compared to the rest of the scene.
    • Background behind paper is poorly cloned areas from the upper half
    • More subtle is the image sharpness difference between the paper and the mount and scale of the paper. Its a larger sheet scaled down to look smaller
    • Incredibly unusual for the paper to be aligned perfectly with the camera frame like that

Isn't this the guy that announced his wedding here a couple of days ago?

His crop is wrong too. Far right middle he left the white edge showing. The pic he added didn’t align with the original one 100%

Last seen twenty minutes ago, engaged in conversation. No telling how many scams he might have going. Personally, I wouldn't deal with a new member with eight posts like those, but he should still get banned before he gets somebody.

With the holes touching eachother like that?
    The mount is correct

What it appears to be is a legit pic of a mount on a table. Then a pic of the paper on a piece of cardboard or something. Then blended in the middle as noted by another’s pic above

People like this is why we should always leave feedback after a transaction so others can see the individuals validity. I got scammed by another individual a few weeks ago for 215$.

It seems a lot of scams or attempts to scam here lately have been a result of a memebrs WTB ad and the scammer sending what the member is looking for as referred to in this thread

    Nice catch OP

Yeah, the WTB attracts the scammers more for sure. When I did a want to buy I had a guy try a scam too. I reported it of course. No feedback, I won't deal, unless they want to send the item first. It's that simple.

I haven’t sold in a while here but anytime I did I just gave the buyer my cell number. At least on anything of value. That way not only can they request more info but if this site went down for some reason I can still have a contact with the buyer. Tell them I have the item and ask what they wanted pics of. They get what they want right away because it’s in my hands when they ask

When I see higher $$ items here the first thing I do is click on the name to see post count/join date. If that looks decent I look at feedback. If that’s decent I look at the past posts of that user. You can also google the pics and see if they’ve been used elsewhere

There’s certainly accounts that get hacked and scams that get through but if you at least do those things it will trip red flags usually quick

Got this one the other night I thought it was little off but can’t say for sure. I emailed the guy and when he said $170 I said that’s too high and he said of that was my price for two of them.? Anyways I got one elsewhere but just seemed fishy.

When they want you to contact someone else or another email address that is a 99.9% sure fire scam. You dodged a bullet with that one

This guy is still here, last seen not long ago. He must realize we suspect he's a scammer, but he may still be looking for a victim.

DHOURT . is a scammer too. Apparently his name is Michael limozinere. Please dont do business with him.

Has he been reported to the Moderators? They are usually quick to take action.

There's a report button in the lower left corner of every post, including private messages.

Bumpin' to the top since the fucker's still not banned yet.

And here I figured mofos would be too scared to try and scam people that spend their lives shooting little things from far far away.

First thing I do when selling or buying is offer my cell number. Let’s talk on the phone! Plus it’s easier for me to send photos over text. If it’s a high end scope or rifle, ask or send a photo of your drivers license. Always easier to search or find someone w a full name and address...

These scammers are coming from Africa. I got one of them to click a link I sent as a “payment reciept” but was really an IP logger link. Then I think he tried to use a VPN from Boston. Just last week.

Yes, but they are also using the DL from legitimate people, IE stolen identity. I think texting a local cell number or talking to them on the phone is the best way. Most scammers aren’t from the US.
