And in which branch did you serve?................USMC.........and I still believe in the oath that I raised my hand for.........bring it........
Would you die for America is a defeatist attitude. If the Constitution protects our God given rights then your creed should be :

There's actually multiple ways to view this question, so I think there are multiple right answers.
I did 21 years in the Marines, so yes...I would have died for this country. The choice on where and what for though was dictated by the government.
Now I'm retired and live as fucking far from federal influence as possible...on purpose. If I chose to put my life on the line, I'll have a little more say so in the where and what for (maybe).
Rather than put a target on myself for making stupid posts, ill simply say that I am not aligning with any laws that violate the Constitution, and that I consider my oath to be permanent.

I don't believe for a second that the oath is a joke.
I took that oath repeatedly for 28 years. As long as there are even just a handful of men of honor left in the nation, that oath will have meaning... at least to us.
The "joke" is what our society has become.
Taking such an oath means so little to people any more. There will always be liars, and cheats like the aforementioned politicians. People who will say or do anything to get what they want, but our general populace has become so selfish that their personal word, or the taking of an oath means nothing to them at all, nor do they even understand the significance of the words in them most times anyway...
To answer the question that I started this whole thing with I would. I would die for America.
However, I feel I need to define what Americas really IS.
Like when the preacher stands up and says the building isn't the church, the congregation is, the people who believe is...
America isn't it's government, the White House, the Capitol, Congress, The President, or anything like that.
America is her people.
It's not even ALL the people either.
It's the freedom loving, God fearing, family centered, people who believe in the American values set forth by our founding fathers, and who are willing to follow the laws as set forth in the supreme law of the land... the Constitution.
No matter where their ancestors came from,
what color they are,
gay, or straight,
men, or women,
old, or young,
wealthy, or poor,
whatever...
if they follow American values, and live the American way of life...
(and got here legally)
they're American.
THAT'S the America, I'm willing to die for.
Sadly, close to half the nation is excluded from that these days because their idea of "America" has become a sick twisted, perverse thing... with different sets of rules for different classes of people.
This is why it may one day come to this...

Second, I never went into anything at 2am willing to die because I was focusing way too much on someone else being shot in the face.

An illegitimate regime that stole an election, then steals trillions of dollars to give peanuts to the poors and keep the rest for themselves and buddies. Using government agencies to attack thier political opponents and opening borders to let in every illiterate economic migrant from all corners of the world in to become welfare dependents for life.
There may be faster ways to destroy a country/economy, but the list would be fairly short.
