Seen it a few times already, but always worth a re-watch.

He was a bad ass.

He'd have argued that he was anything but a bad ass.

That he was just a soldier doing his job and protecting an A-team and their allies.

What not many people know is that 3 years before he was involved in the action that earned him the MOH, he had stepped on a mine in vietnam. And spent a year of incredible pain and suffering learning to walk again after being told he was permanently paralyzed. He f&^%$g WALKED out of the hospital with his wife... to his waiting team-mates. That story is as relevant to who he is as the MoH action.

Also took almost 15 years to get his recognition as the Army (which hated SF at the time) tried hard to spike his MoH... Reagan finally bestowed his award that should have been by presented by Nixon... 12 years earlier.

But, yeah... he was a heck of a soldier when the chips were down!

Our company went to a Base Ball game a few weeks ago. One coworker, who was born ad raised in Puerto Rico was standing there during the anthem. Hat on his head. I reached over and removed it for him. I explained it to him, this does a better job. I'll forward it to him.
