My good buddy is planning a gender reveal party early October. Going to be using lots of tanerite and color, but he put me in charge of finding a gun to use. I want to go over the top, but I'm not sure I want to spend the money on a Barrett m107 right now. Anybody know of any ranges that rent 50 cals? Also open to paying to rent someone's personal gun (I'm a fully licensed dealer in Michigan).

Huron Valley Guns has an M107 rental not sure you can take it outside of their range though.

It sounds like tannerite is going to be the primary "boom" factor, then you don't really need a 50 cal. You are better off getting a zeroed and accurate 308/6.5/7mm that you can comfortably shoot and hit the designated tannerite target so as to create the boom factor.

Failing that, tell your buddy that it is presumptuous to assign a gender to a baby that hasn't had the opportunity to decide for themselves.
Wow can't believe you used "themselves"........is that a babies preferred pronoun. He's white too, I'll make sure he checks his baby's privilege at birth as well.

He wanted to use my 308, but I'd have to disagree........you can never have too much gun for this event. 20mm anyone.lol

How far away is the tannerite going to be, what size is the container? M107 with ball ammo is 4-6 moa accuracy, 2 moa with match ammo.

I had one of those and it was like a bomb going off outside. I cant imagine firing it inside. Tinnitus anyone?

They are at least that accurate, mine did better, at 100-200 yds .2 with ball. Whats really fun are the APIT's.

I love shooting my 50 cal Cadex Tremor. It's always an event bringing it out and having my buddies take a whack at whatever they want destroyed at the other end. But at a baby shower with pregnant ladies, kids or man-kids? I am not so sure... It will be up to you to make sure everyone stays well clear behind from the muzzle blast, concussion, everyone wearing eyes and ears good enough for 50 cal, etc... (I always ensure everyone near my 50 cal is double plugged - ear plugs + cover). And if you use AP/API/APIT/Raufoss rounds, be aware those things ricochet like a m'fker.

Just a lot of safety issues to factor in with a 50 cal when most of the "boom" factor is from the tannerite anyways...

Must be only 4-6 moa when in military hands.

Only going to be adults, mostly friends that like to hunt/shoot. Maybe buying one would be a better idea......attract more friends to the range to destroy stuff

I've tried LC, PMC, PPU and Federal ball ammo, it's poor performance between two different barrels. I started reloading and now I can get sub 2 moa at 1k yards. If you're going through all the trouble to buy an m107 for a party, buy some good ammo.
