So I got a 8.5 300 aac and it always has a suppressor on it . Right now it’s got a 7in hand guard , I was thinking of getting a 11 or 13 in hand guard that partially covers the suppressor as well. Anyone else do this?
Hmm didn’t think about that , thanks for the input guys anyone ever shoot with their hand past their muzzle if the suppressor is off… how bad would that be?

Handed a 14.5" rifle to my boss one time, he held it in his normal stance which had his index finger alongside side of the brake. He only did that once.
Also had a 9mm PCC with a 5" barrel with a compensator followed by an aluminum extension to get it to legal 16"+. If you held it with your hand far enough back it felt a lot like when you light black cats and don't throw them fast enough.

A carbon fiber hand guard covering the suppressor won't get nearly as hot as aluminum, but you'll generally pay good money for them. Smoke Composites, PRI, and Coda might be worth looking into.
