Hello , all , well I have been a avid hunter all my life ,thanks to my grandfather grhs. Now that I am older I thought I would dabble in some long range shooting . I have a nice 1000 yard range about a half hour away . Its 400 for the first year and 300 every consecutive year you keep your membership. They have a gator to run out to put up targets or paint steel. Heated in the winter. Have to be nra member. Witch I am ! Been going to the 100 yard alot with my new psa ar 10 in 308 . Lapped the bore my self it was realy tite at the gas port . Go figure right. Finally got a box of hornady 168 gn. A max and she came to life . One hole at a hundred yards 5 shoot group I could not believe it. Not out of a gas gun. Took me a year to figure out the load they used. 42 gr. 3031 thats right 3031 I guess snipers used it back in the day. Any way it brought my 18 inch ss barrel to life for me. Time to move on to a bolt gun. I know 308 is not optimal for 1000 yard shots . And all the hype is on the 6 mm and 6.5 creedmoor. But to each his own right. Got a cz 557 varmint put a vortex 6x25 on it waiting for my muzzle break. Then off to fire form some cases. Wish me luck!!!
