Shot PRS for a few year then went back to USPSA. Getting the itch to shoot PRS/NRL again but happen to be moving to Indiana in the very near future. I've found a couple NRL22 clubs, but not much else. Anyone know of any matches within an hour or of indianapolis area?

Bomber Run is a new match PRS is starting this year. It'll be at the old Jefferson Proving Grounds airfield west of Madison IN. I think this will be the closest match to Indy you'll find.

Indiana has basically nothing.
Bomber Run as noted above where they did a test run / club match yesterday for the Pro match scheduled in mid Feb. I think Adam (MD at Red Brush) is going to do another in a couple weeks. Your other option, again, not Indiana, would be Turkey Creek in Pleasureville, KY. Fred (run Turkey Creek) and Adam partnered to do the PRS Pro Match at Bomber Run. Both are absolute top-notch MD's. Bomber Run would be about an hour, and Turkey Creek about 2.5hr. from Indy.

A lot of shooting matches in Indiana of all kinds and North to south. PRS? Not so much. IN State Rifle and Pistol Association is active and has a quarterly newsletter regarding shooting sports
Wildcat Valley Rifle and Pistol club does small bore and xtc high power by Lafayette
Central Indiana High power shooters runs a ton of matches at Camp Atterbury but again not PRS. Known distance sling and F class on Silver Mountain electronic targets just south of Indy.
NRA National Matches are at Camp Atterbury
I know PRS shooters from IN but I think they travel out of state for those matches

I was going to mention that

The MI/OH/IN/IL area is a PRS/NRL wasteland unless you're into 22s.

USPSA is a much better choice in that part of the country unless you want to drive for hours on end to find a rifle match

Yeah that's what really sucks about Indiana. Alot of USPSA IDPA stuff but little to nothing for PRS type matches.

Sadly.
We've got MTC in Northern MI. which is a top-notch facility, but a haul any way you get there unless you live in the northern lower of MI. Next closest match from MTC is 7 hours which would probably be MKM.

Maybe I'll stick with USPSA and dabble with a .22 or something. I enjoyed PRS but not enough to drive 2.5 hours each way every month. Thanks for the info guys.

Yup, trying to get into PRS this year and it’ll be a 2hr drive to MTC for me.

Hoosier Hills offers NRL22. Fall Creek Conservation Club (Anderson) offers various types of matches including high power (reduced course, 100 yards), and smallbore prone. Anderson Rifle and Pistol holds several smallbore prone matches during the year. Marion County Fish and Game is a decent club to belong to IF all you want to shoot is handgun and rimfire caliber. Pre-Covid Friday Night Steel matches were well attended.

Not exactly what you are looking for. But at least some additional shooting match opportunities.

Mini necropost here, but thanks to all who’ve commented. I accepted a job in northern Indiana and am disheartened to heart it’s a bit of a precision rifle wasteland. 😞 I enjoy 2-Gun and pistol stuff, but not sure I’d enjoy how “gamey” 3-Gun is. And I suppose my 457MTR will get a workout at NRL22 matches.

Any leads on decent ranges that reach out to 500+ in northern Indiana? I’m not opposed to driving down to this Bomber Run match once in awhile, but it definitely won’t be a monthly ordeal at ~4hrs from where I’ll be. Guess aside from NRL22, I’ll finally need to invest in a DFAT and get used to maintaining/building skills through more regular dry fire!

Where abouts in northern Indiana? Young’s is a decent range. Steel out to 1000yrds, but the price to join is getting a little steep.

Yea, that's another option. Not a match setting, but you can shoot from the bench, roof, a couple tank traps from the side, etc.

From that last thing I seen Fred put out, Turkey Creek had to cancel all their PRS matches. I do not know all the details, just that is was something to do with a zoning issue. Now I haven't seen anything in a month or so about it. He may have got is all hashed out to were he can have matches again, but that, I do not know for sure. Again, last word I saw was all Turkey Creek matches had been cancelled.

Correct. Turkey Creek is done. Teal Deer: He could either talk to his neighbors through Attorneys, or stop hosting matches on the property. He and buddies can shoot, but not 60 guys at a time. I guess it just got to be too much.
From what I understand He (Fred) and Adam are hosting at what is now known as the 'Bomber Run' facility (the old Jefferson Proving Grounds in Maddison IN.) which is top notch, can shoot out to a mile, etc. But is also farmland, so when the crops go in, the matches are limited.

Yeah, I shot up there back in Jan. during the regional match. It was a bit cold and windy…. Haha

Welcome to the area, I'm just over the boarder in Michigan by 7 miles and a member out at Young's longshot. For me, matches are a 3-4 hour drive, but it used to be far worse.

The Bomber Run, in Madison, is having another regional match April 2nd. It's a fun match, I participated in both the Pro match, January regional and upcoming April 2nd regional.

You have Red brush in Newburgh that has regional matches (facebook group Red Brush Precision Rifle Challenge). Sign ups are on practiscore.com

IL PRSC in Waterman IL is having a couple PRS regional matches and "lost boys" matches this year (search for Illinois Precision Rifle Steel Challenge on facebook for more info).

Wisconsin has both Regional and a Pro match near Cascade WI

Michigan matches are at Marksmanship Training Center north of Lake City, these will be regional only this year.

Both MI and WI match info can be found at https://www.prschallenge.com/ as well Facebook.

In past years there were matches in Ohio but I haven't seen info on any of those recently. Big Dog Steel and Rayner's Range were the two doing them.

I know there are several guys from the indy area, you might want to hit up the Red Brush facebook page and introduce yourself and find a travel/training buddy.
