Ok, some backstory. I am looking at getting a .22lr for fun plinking. That said i own a ruger 10/22 but was thinking of a bolt gun. I particularly love the looks of the anschutz 1903/1907 (i know they are single shots) my brain was like wow wouldn’t it be cool if they were repeaters and accepted 10/22 mags.

That being said, is there any companies producing bottom metal that accepts 10/22 mags? Is that even possible?

I know of the ruger american rimfire but is there anything else? Like for the vudoo v-22 or other custom actions?

What are your thoughts about this? Would it be cool to use 10/22 mags in a bolt gun or am i just in the special corner?

Christensen Arms Ranger 22 Lr uses Ruger 10-22 mags.

It's not as simple as just replacing the bottom metal to fit the magazine...the bolt geometry also has to change.

Tactical Solutions Owyhee also uses 10/22 mags, but it's not a particularly accurate rifle. The Christenen Arms Ranger 22 as mentioned above, but every thread I read about the rifle is all about how they don't work very well.

Now, if Ruger want's to make a Rimfire American Takedown...I'm all for it.

77/22. Probably not what your looking for, but the mags will work.

I'm with you, I would love to be able to interchange all of my magazines and .22 rifles and did so up until the current trends of Model 700 clones came out. I have looked, but have not found anyone making bottom metal or modifying actions for 10/22 magazines.
As far as I know, the only bolt rifles using 10/22 magazines are:
Christensen Arms Ranger
TacSol Owyhee
Ruger 77/22
Volquartsen (or PWS) Summit

Probably not a good idea. Even though they are reliable and the flush mount looks good, they don't lend themselves well to accuracy. Actually they are a problem where accuracy is concerned. Too much bullet movement within the mag. for the soft lead 22. which is easily distorted. They are only held in place by end to end pivot points. Side to side movement is dependent on stock fitment. Most move around in the receiver. This movement can cause lead shaving when feeding into the chamber. My point is. While being a great design in stock guns with stock 10/22 accuracy they can be a problem if trying to build an accurate gun on the 10/22 platform!

While it’s not impossible, there is no drop-in I’m aware of. I’m not sure if the bolt would strip a round from the magazine without modifications. As the above poster said, the mag doesn’t lend itself well to feeding without deforming the bullet in some way. That said, sometimes the stars align and you can get a factory gun that’s perfect, as I finally found an accurate (to my standards) 77/22 (after 2 bad ones), and 10/22 (after 19 mediocre ones). That should tell you something.
Also, look at the feeding issues some have with stock mounted mag retainers vs action mounted mag retainers. It’s a heck of a rabbit hole 😉

You can also add the Ruger RPR Rimfire and the Ruger American Rimfire to your list.
